  • Patent number: 11826515
Abstract: A one-piece catheter (30) and manufacturing method therefor are disclosed. The catheter (30) includes a catheter tube (33) and an adapter (31). The catheter catheter tube (33) includes a tip (331) at one end and an end portion (332) at another other end. The adapter (31) can be configured for receiving a septum (402). The adapter (31) includes a narrow opening. The end portion (332) of the catheter tube (33) is connected to the adapter (31) at the narrow opening for fluid communication between the catheter tube (33) and the adapter (31). The catheter tube (33) and adapter (31) are formed as a one-piece element that is preferably injection molded in a single-shot process. Additional elements, such as one or more retention tabs (313) for attaching to a base can be formed on the catheter (30). The one-piece catheter (30) can be made by a single-shot injection molding process. Additional structures, such as a base can be attached to the catheter (30) by a second-shot injection molding process.

  • Patent number: 11511082
Abstract: A catheter assembly may include an over-the-needle catheter and introducer needle. The catheter may include a distal tip and an elongate tubular portion proximate the distal tip of the catheter. The distal tip may be constructed of a first material and may include at least a portion of a stepped surface. The tubular portion may be constructed of a second material having a harder durometer than the first material. The introducer needle may include a needle feature having another stepped surface configured to abut the stepped surface of the catheter when the introducer needle is in an insertion position such that proximal movement of the distal tip of the catheter relative to the introducer needle is inhibited.

  • Publication number: 20220211980
Abstract: A catheter insertion device (10) is provided for positioning and inserting a catheter (14), particularly a midline catheter into a patient. The insertion device (10) includes an introducer needle (18) that extends from the distal end of the catheter during insertion. A manually operated actuator assembly (20) is movable with respect to a housing for deploying the catheter (14) over the distal end of the introducer needle (18). A step-wise movement of the actuator (20) advances the catheter (14) in stages over the introducer needle (18). A shuttling or indexing mechanism (60, 76) advances the catheter and prevents retraction of the catheter once deployed.
