Publication number: 20210378589Abstract: A fluid replacement method including: determining the amount of urine expelled by a patient; infusing via a pump fluid from a first fluid source into a patient; determining an amount of fluid infused into the patient from the first fluid source; adjusting the operating of the pump based on the determined amount of urine expelled and the amount of fluid infused into the patient; setting a desired fluid balance for the patient; setting an amount of at least one additional fluid delivered to the patient, wherein the at least one additional fluid is not pumped into the patient; calculating an actual fluid balance based on the determined urine output, the determined amount of fluid infused into the patient from the first fluid source, and the set amount of said at least one additional fluid delivered to the patient; and automatically controlling the pump based on the actual fluid balance and the set desired fluid balance so the actual fluid balance conforms to the desired fluid balance.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 25, 2021Publication date: December 9, 2021Inventors: J. Richardo Da Silva, Wieslaw Gronek, Andrew V. Halpert, Robert I. Rudko, Mark Tauscher

Patent number: 10045734Abstract: A console includes a weighing subsystem responsive to a first fluid source and a urine collection chamber. A pump infuses fluid from the first fluid source into a patient. A processing subsystem is responsive to the weighing subsystem. Based on the weight of the first fluid source and of the urine collection chamber, urine output and amount of fluid infused into the patient from the first fluid source are determined. A user can set a desired fluid balance and the amount of at least one additional fluid delivered. An actual fluid balance is calculated based on the determined urine output, the determined amount of fluid infused from the first fluid source, and the set amount of the additional fluid delivered. The pump is controlled based on actual fluid balance and set desired fluid balance so actual fluid balance becomes the same or approximately the same as the desired fluid balance.Type: GrantFiled: January 14, 2010Date of Patent: August 14, 2018Assignee: PLC Medical Systems, Inc.Inventors: J. Ricardo Da Silva, Wieslaw Gronek, Andrew V. Halpert, Robert I. Rudko, Mark Tauscher

Publication number: 20100274217Abstract: A fluid replacement device and method. A console includes a weighing subsystem responsive to a first fluid source and a urine collection chamber. A pump is configured to infuse fluid from the first fluid source into a patient. A processing subsystem in the console is responsive to the weighing subsystem. Based on the weight of the first fluid source and the weight of the urine collection chamber, the patient's urine output and the amount of fluid infused into the patient from the first fluid source are determined. A user interface in the console allows the user to set a desired fluid balance for the patient and the amount of at least one additional fluid delivered to the patient. An actual fluid balance is calculated based on the determined urine output, the determined amount of fluid infused into the patient from the first fluid source, and the set amount of the at least one additional fluid delivered to the patient.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 14, 2010Publication date: October 28, 2010Inventors: J. Patent number: 7727222Abstract: A patient hydration system with an infusion subsystem which infuses fluid into a patient and a urine output measurement subsystem for measuring the amount of urine output by the patient. A controller is configured to control the infusion subsystem and is responsive to the urine output measurement subsystem. The controller includes a balancing function which controls the infusion subsystem to administer fluid infused into the patient to balance the urine output with the fluid infusion. The controller also includes a taper down function which controls the infusion subsystem to administer fluid infused into the patient at a rate less than the rate of urine output by the patient.Type: GrantFiled: May 20, 2008Date of Patent: June 1, 2010Assignee: PLC Medical Systems, Inc.Inventors: J. Ricardo Da Silva, Wieslaw Gronek, Andrew V. Halpert, Kenneth John Luppi, Robert I. Rudko, Mark Tauscher
