  • Publication number: 20140291900
Abstract: The invention relates to a nozzle system (10) having a nozzle (1) for a cutting torch (3) for autogenous torch-cutting, having a nozzle body (2) with media channels for cutting oxygen, heating oxygen or heating gas for the creation of a primary flow (4). In order to clearly reduce the noise during torch-cutting, the nozzle body (2) is surrounded in a sleeve-like manner by a tube sheathing piece (5). Therein, the inner side of the tube sheathing piece (5) has lengthwise clearances (6) on the sheathing surface of the nozzle body (2) for sucking in outside air using the suction effect of the torch-cutting media for the creation of a secondary flow (7).

  • Patent number: 8771437
Abstract: The invention concerns a method for detecting the wear of a cutting nozzle on a cutting torch for cutting steel workpieces, in particular slabs, blooms and slugs. A branch line exits to the cutting torch in the feed line of the heating gas connection, into which branch line a neutral medium with a set pressure is blown through the cutting nozzle after closing the medium valves for heating gas, cutting oxygen and heating oxygen. To do so, said process is carried out once when installing a new cutting nozzle for the calibration thereof. Said process is performed again at set intervals, depending on the usage of the cutting nozzle, in order to determine and to store in memory the wear condition of the cutting nozzle and to generate an optical and/or acoustic signal in case a predetermined maximum admissible deviation amount of the medium blown in has been exceeded.

Abstract: The invention concerns a method for detecting the wear of a cutting nozzle (2) on a cutting torch (1) for cutting steel workpieces, in particular slabs, blooms and slugs. A branch line (16) exits to the cutting torch (1) in the feed line (9) of the heating gas connection (3), into which branch line a neutral medium with a set pressure is blown through the cutting nozzle (2) after closing the medium valves (6,7,8) for heating gas, cutting oxygen and heating oxygen. To do so, said process is carried out once when installing a new cutting nozzle (2) for the calibration thereof. • Patent number: 5902544
Abstract: A high pressure oxygen torch system for cutting steel is disclosed. The system includes a high pressure nozzle which operates at oxygen pressures of approximately 20 bar and above. The system also includes a pressure regulating valve and a mass flow control valve which maintain uniform pressure within close tolerances. The oxygen torch system may be used in continuous steel casting operations to economically, reliably and quickly cut hot and cold strands.
