    Abstract: An apparatus for electrophotographically manufacturing a luminescent screen assembly on a substrate for use within a CRT includes a developer for developing a photoconductive layer, having a latent image thereon, with a dry-powdered, triboelectrially-charged screen structure materials. The photoconductive layer overlies a conductive layer in contact with the substrate. A grid-developing electrode is located at a distance from the photoconductive layer that is large relative to the smallest dimension of the latent image. The electrode is biased with a suitable potential to influence the deposition of the charged screen structure materials onto the latent image on the photoconductive layer. A method for electrophotographically manufacturing the screen assembly utilizing the grid-developing electrode is also disclosed.

    Abstract: An electron injection structure for the beam guide meshes of a flat panel display has apertures with different dimensions to optimize beam focusing for different purposes. The first period of apertures has strong focusing normal to the plan of the guide meshes. A plurality of periods have strong focusing in a direction parallel to the lateral dimension of the guide meshes. Another plurality of apertures matches the beams to the propagation section of the beam guide.

    Abstract: Piezoelectric video disc recording cutterheads have small and intricate geometries that make it difficult to compute or measure their mechanical characteristics, especially during the recording process. A monitoring circuit, for use during recording, for monitoring and measuring the mechanical characteristics of a recording cutterhead takes the form of a bridge network. The motional charge or motional current, which are related to the mechanical characteristics of the cutterhead, is measured by means of the bridge network. One branch of the bridge is arranged to include the piezoelectric cutterhead, the other branch comprises a variable capacitor which is adjusted to compensate for the shunt capacitance of the equivalent electrical circuit of the cutterhead. When the variable capacitance is properly adjusted the combination of the currents through the bridge network provides a signal representative of the displacement characteristics of the cutterhead.

    Abstract: A lens assembly exhibiting a certain fixed relative aperture is comprised of a physical acoustic lens having a given physical aperture and a fixed relatively short focal length serially spaced from an electronic acoustic lens having any selected one of a plurality of different relatively long focal lengths and simultaneously controlling the physical aperture of the electronic acoustic lens such that the relative aperture of the assembly as a whole remains fixed regardless of the selected one of the long focal lengths. Such a lens assembly is suitable for use in a pulse-echo ultrasonic-imaging system for imaging a deep structure.
