  • Patent number: 6951943
Abstract: A process for the preparation of a class of phenylalanine enamide derivatives is described: wherein: Ar1 is an optionally substituted aromatic or heteroaromatic group; L2 is a linker group selected from —N(R4)— [where R4 is a hydrogen atom or an optionally substituted straight or branched C1-6alkyl group], —CON(R4)—, or —S(O)2N(R4)—; R1 is a carboxylic acid (—CO2H) or a derivative or biostere thereof; R2 is a hydrogen atom or a C1-6alkyl group; Rx, Ry and Rz which may be the same or different is each an atom or group -L1(Alk1)n(R3)v; and the salts, solvates, hydrates and N-oxides thereof; which comprises reacting a compound of formula (2): wherein: Qa is a group —N(R4)H; and the salts, solvates, hydrates and N-oxides thereof; with a compound Ar1W wherein W is a group selected from X1(wherein X1 is a leaving atom or group), —COX2 (wherein X2 is a halogen atom or a —OH group) or —SO2X3 (in which X3 is a halogen atom).

  • Patent number: 4129621
Abstract: A volatile anesthetic vaporizing apparatus including a concentration control flow valve means actuated by a substantially linear rotary dial for dividing an inflowing gas stream into two separate streams, one stream being passed over liquid anesthetic to pick up a vapor and the other stream flowing through a bypass duct. The gas stream flowing over liquid anesthetic flows through a temperature responsive valve means, the latter being actuated by a temperature sensitive bimetallic strip which is in direct contact with the vapor saturated air stream which is relatively cool due to the vaporization of the liquid anesthetic. The valve means so situated in the vapor stream essentially does not include any moving parts. Such valve means is formed by the spaced mounting of a planar valve element on a planar surface having a vapor opening therein or an inlet passage.

  • Patent number: 3952762
Abstract: An inflation valve comprising an inlet; an inlet valve seat; an inlet valve member having an input face, part of which is engageable with the inlet valve seat, and an output face; a restricted passageway from a first space on the input face side of the inlet valve member to a second space on the output face side of the inlet valve member; an outlet valve seat; an outlet valve member having a first face engageable with the outlet valve seat and capable of being exposed directly or indirectly to pressure in the first or said second space and a second face exposed to exhaust pressure; and a mechanical connection between the two valve members; the mechanical connection and the relationship between the surface areas of the faces being such that when the pressure differential between the first and second spaces is above a given valve the inlet valve is held open and the outlet valve is held closed, but when the pressure differential falls below the given value the outlet valve is opened and the inlet valve is close
