Patent number: 9444719Abstract: Disclosed are systems and methods for detecting and locating ingress of an over-the-air signal into a wired communications network. Computing devices located in a plurality of different areas may be configured to identify amplitude of signals transmitted over the wired communications network as it varies by signal frequency. In one embodiment, the system may determine expected amplitude of the over-the-air signal at the plurality of different areas. In other embodiments, the system may identify amplitudes received over the wired communication path at the computing devices. The system may determine a location at which the over-the-air signal has entered the wired communications network based on a comparison of the identified and expected amplitudes of the over-the-wire signal.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 2014Date of Patent: September 13, 2016Assignee: Comcast Cable Communications, LLCInventors: Lawrence D. Wolcott, Philip Chang, Wilfredo Colon, Paras Kharwal

Patent number: 9438500Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for effectively managing a network of computing devices by collecting and processing performance metric information from a plurality of devices in the network. In one embodiment, a computing device performance monitor may be configured to collect a plurality of performance metric information for one or more monitored computing devices and may assign integrity scores to the plurality of performance metrics. The performance monitor may be configured to determine performance values for the one or more monitored computing devices, and use the performance values to determine an appropriate response or corrective measure.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 2014Date of Patent: September 6, 2016Assignee: Comcast Cable Communications, LLCInventors: Wilfredo Colon, John Olander, Olakunle Ekundare, Patrick O'Hare, Justin Menard

Patent number: 7393443Abstract: The present invention provides a fast and efficient means for identifying kinetically stable proteins. As used herein the term “kinetically stable protein” means a protein that is trapped in a specific conformation due to an unusually high unfolding barrier that results in very slow unfolding rates. The present inventors are the first to discover the existence of a correlation between kinetic stability and SDS-induced denaturation. Thus, the invention provides methods for identifying kinetically stable proteins comprising the step of testing the proteins for resistance to denaturation by SDS. In one embodiment, SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) is one simple method for quickly identifying and selecting kinetically stable proteins.Type: GrantFiled: August 23, 2004Date of Patent: July 1, 2008Assignee: Rensselaer Polytechnic InstituteInventors: Wilfredo Colón, Marta Manning

Publication number: 20060183802Abstract: The present invention provides compositions and methods for treating ALS and other diseases, particularly motor neuron diseases that are mediated by aberrant aggregation of SOD. Patients with ALS may be treated using a compound of the invention which inhibits SOD aggregation mediated by a Cys-111 residue of SOD, or inhibits SOD aggregation mediated by labile SOD beta-barrel ends. The invention also provides methods for designing compounds capable of inhibiting aggregation.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 4, 2005Publication date: August 17, 2006Inventors: Wilfredo Colon, Jinhyuk Chung, Mitchel De Beus, Curt Breneman, Hongmei Zhang
