  • Patent number: 9882445
Abstract: A phase separator for an electric machine includes a first insulator and a second insulator. The first and second insulators each include a leg portion and an endturn portion connected to the leg portion. The endturn portion is asymmetric with respect to an axis defined by the leg portion such that the second insulator can be inverted and disposed in an overlapping arrangement for electrically insulating endturn portions of adjacent phase windings.

  • Patent number: 9369020
Abstract: A phase separator for an electrical machine includes a first end portion, a second end portion, and a midsection. The midsection connects the first end portion to the second end portion such that the first end portion opposes the second end portion. The midsection is configured for fixing the phase separator in the electrical machine for separating the adjacent phase windings from one another. The first and second end portions are for separating end turns of adjacent phase windings of an electrical machine.

  • Patent number: 9124158
Abstract: An insulating phase separator is used in an electric machine to separate phase windings in a stator assembly. The insulating phase separator includes first and second endturn portions and first and second leg portions. The first and second endturn portions each have a curved outer surface and a tabbed portion located opposite the curved outer surface. The first and second leg portions extend between the first and second endturn portions and are integral with the first and second endturn portions.

  • Publication number: 20140306571
Abstract: A pole separator insert is employed in a stator assembly of an electric machine to separate winding coils installed within circumferentially distributed slots of a stator core. The pole separator insert comprises first and second insulating tabs connected by first and second legs. The first and second insulating tabs are disposed between adjacent winding coils of a single phase, at opposite ends of the stator core. The first and second legs are disposed through adjacent circumferentially distributed slots of the stator core.

  • Patent number: 6008555
Abstract: An electric motor includes a stator assembly having an annular stator core with an inner diameter and an outer diameter. The inner diameter is formed with a plurality of winding slots extending from a first end of the stator core to a second end of the stator core. A plurality of windings are disposed within the winding slots beginning with a first slots. The windings are coupled into at least one winding group associated with at least a first phase, and each winding has a first winding end and a second winding end extending from the first end and the second end, respectively, of the stator core.
