  • Publication number: 20120021441
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for determining the isoform composition of erythropoietin, comprising the following steps: a) isoelectrical focusing of a sample comprising erythropoietin in a gel over a pH range having a lower limit of 2.5 to 3.5 and an upper limit of 5 to 8, wherein the sample comprising erythropoietin originates from a culture supernatant of erythropoietin producing eukaryotic cells; b) transferring of the proteins comprised and separated in the gel to a membrane; c) verifying the erythropoietin bound to the membrane by specific antibodies; and to a method for in-process control of culture supernatants of erythropoietin producing eukaryotic cells during the fermentative production process.

  • Publication number: 20110189732
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the fermentative continuous production of erythropoietin, where eukaryotic erythropoietin-producing cells are cultured in a perfusion reactor while retaining the cells, the glucose concentration in the culture supernatant being adjusted via the perfusion rate and the cell number via the cell retention rate and/or the outward transferal of defined amounts of cell-containing culture medium from the bioreactor within preset zones.

  • Publication number: 20110152506
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for preparing erythropoietin, wherein culture supernatant of erythropoietin-producing eukaryotic cells containing erythropoietin are subjected to the following steps: a) Removing the cell components; and b) treating the product from a) to the following chromatography steps in the sequence indicated i) reversed phase chromatography; ii) anion exchange chromatography; iii) hydroxyapatite chromatography.

  • Patent number: 5362868
Abstract: A process is disclosed for thinning granular starch in an aqueous slurry employing a source of peracid without using metal catalysts. The thinning process is aimed at modifying granular starches by lowering viscosity/increasing alkaline fluidity. It can also be employed immediately before or during cooking (gelatinization) of starch. Sources of peracids are peroxomonosulfuric acid (Caro's acid) or organic peracids such as performic, peracetic or perpropionic acid. Reaction time and temperature are lower than for existing process while product properties are improved.

    Inventors: Wilfried Eul, Hans-Ulrich Suess
  • Patent number: 5246598
Abstract: A method is disclosed for detoxifying an aqueous waste solution containing cyanide. The method involves adding a source of silicon oxide to the cyanide containing aqueous waste solution in a concentration of 0.001 to 10 g silicon dioxide/liter aqueous waste solution, at an alkaline pH and a temperature of from 10.degree. to 100.degree. C. Hydrogen peroxide or another peroxygen compound is added in a sufficient quantity to convert the aqueous waste solution containing cyanide to an aqueous solution containing environmentally less toxic materials.

  • Patent number: 5073301
Abstract: A process is described in which, by the addition of formamidinesulfinic acid in association with an ozone or ozone/oxygen treatment, the viscosity and strength of wood pulps are stabilized at the level that is obtained with use of conventional, chlorine-containing bleaching processes.
