  • Patent number: 4314606
Abstract: In an apparatus for a treatment of flowing media which causes heat exchange and mixing internal fittings are located within a housing, which internal fittings consist of tubes extending in the axial direction of the housing, each such tube containing a plurality of elbow-shaped tube portions connected by other tube portions, said tubes being arranged in parallel to one another with the connecting tube portions of adjacent tubes crossing one another.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 10, 1979
Date of Patent: February 9, 1982
    Assignee: Hoechst Aktiengesellschaft
Inventors: Walter Muller, Richard Gauer, Wilfried Walkenhorst, Gerhard Wild
  • Patent number: 4275177
Abstract: Styrene-containing polymers are produced by one- or multi-stage prepolymerization and subsequent continuous, one- or multi-stage main polymerization with final working up. In the main polymerization stage(s) the mixture is subjected simultaneously to a heat exchange and a static mixing procedure.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 10, 1979
Date of Patent: June 23, 1981
    Assignee: Hoechst Aktiengesellschaft
Inventors: Wilfried Walkenhorst, Richard Gauer, Gerhard Wild, Walter Muller
  • Patent number: 4124656
Abstract: There is described a process for the homopolymerization or copolymerization in the bulk of alkenylaromatic compounds in a continuous flow agitation vessel. The feed of the monomer(s) is preheated and a controlled larger or smaller part of the preheated monomer feed is cooled, depending on the deviation of the temperature of the contents of the reaction vessel from the determined value. The inventive process ensures an improved constancy of the reaction temperature, and, consequently, of the molecular weight of the polymer obtained.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 16, 1977
Date of Patent: November 7, 1978
    Assignee: Hoechst Aktiengesellschaft
    Inventor: Wilfried Walkenhorst
