  • Publication number: 20040187655
Abstract: The invention relates to a device (10) for cutting a workpiece (38), mounted onto an elongate rod (36), into a spiral formation. The device includes a frame (12) defining a workspace (14), and locating means (34) for locating the rod longitudinally along the workspace. A chuck (40), rotatable about an axis of rotation, is located in the workspace for holding and rotating the work piece about an axis co-axial with the axis of the rod. A carriage (44) which is transportable longitudinally along the workspace releasably mounts a cutting tool (46) extending transversely to the workspace. The device includes also transport means (48) for transporting the carriage longitudinally along the workspace and displacement means (34) for displacing the locating means, and hence in use the rod, longitudinally along the workspace. The device further includes drive means (52) for driving the transport means, the displacement means and rotatingly driving the chuck.

  • Patent number: 5788017
Abstract: The subject matter of the patent relates to an elevator with an elevator cage 10 guided in rucksack-type manner on a mount frame and a counterweight 15 connected to said elevator cage through a cable control. Therein two equiaxed rolls 20, 21 are disposed on said counterweight and two rolls 16, 18 parallel to the axes are disposed one beside the other on the upper crossbeam and equal numbers of ropes are guided about one roll each on the counterweight and on the crossbeam, wherein the rope ends acting on the guide section of said elevator cage are defined at the lateral ends of said guide section in symmetry with the central axis of said elevator cage. The individual ropes 25a, 25b, 26a, 26b, over their entire lengths run in parallel with one another in one plane within the mount frame 4 guiding said elevator cage 10 and said counterweight 15.

  • Patent number: 5269741
Abstract: Process for erecting a folding carton from a single-piece board blank which has a base surface, to which side panels are hinged along folding lines, and a front and back panel, where flaps are provided on the side panels that are folded into the area of the front and back panels, and where at least sections of the blanks are coated with a sealable plastic. First of all the two side panels are erected by pressing the board blank into a U-shaped female tool. Rotating lugs fold in the flaps; the back and front panels are heated up to such an extent that the plastic coating is sealable, after which the back panel and the front panel and the flaps are pressed against each other and are sealed together.

  • Patent number: 5028044
Abstract: In order to increase considerably the output of a rotary feeder (6) for removing individual blanks (1) from a stack (2), the invention proposes that the speed of the rotary movement of rotary suckers (7) is slowed down while they are being pressed against the blank (5) that is to be removed. This retardation operation is brought about by a special gear unit that drives a rotor (12) to which the rotary suckers (7) are attached.

  • Patent number: 4977729
Abstract: The invention relates to a process and an apparatus for packaging a fragile product (8) in a folding carton (19), the problem being to carry out the forming of the folding carton blank (1), the filling of the carton (19) and the closing of the carton (19) automatically in a continuous movement without damaging the fragile product (8). To solve this problem, the invention proposes transporting the folding carton blank (1) in a constant direction, involving initial partial pre-forming of the blank (1), which is then filled with the product (8) and closed with overlapping (12) lid flaps (5), after which the filled blank (1,19) is turned through 90.degree. around a vertical axis and is subsequently closed in a continuous forward movement.

  • Patent number: 4815254
Abstract: A process and an apparatus for erecting and closing a folding carton made from a one-piece board blank consisting of base, side and top panels connected by folding lines. The board blank is transported with its base panel (5) facing downwards through a device in which the side and top panels (7,9) are folded upwards and on top of each other. A fixed tongue (12) which is fastened at one end from above and is located inside the sleeve-shaped folding carton once the top panels have been folded into position, is provided to support the top panels (9). The transport unit has supports (14) which move with it, engage the underneath of the tongue and give it support against downward pressure.
