    Abstract: An intake system for a multi-cylinder, internal combustion engine, such as a compression ignition (Diesel) engine. The system includes an air filter housing opening directly into a number of intake pipes (one per cylinder) each leading separately to an individual cylinder. The filtered air side of the filter housing thus serves simultaneously as an intake manifold and as an intake silencer.
