  • Patent number: 6062463
Abstract: The invention relates to a manufacturing process for brush-type seals having the following steps:Stacking of bristles in a bristle receiving shaft such that the bristles are partially situated next to the space for at least one brush cheek;adjusting the bristle receiving shaft in synchronization with the stacking of the bristles relative to a point of introduction of the bristles into the bristle receiving shaft so that the position of a bristle stack surface in the bristle receiving shaft remains at least essentially constant relative to the point of introduction;fastening the bristles on at least one brush cheek in the bristle receiving shaft; andremoving the at least one brush cheek with the bristles fastened thereto from the bristle receiving shaft. In addition, the invention provides an arrangement for manufacturing brush-type seals by means of which the above-mentioned process can be carried out correspondingly.

  • Patent number: 4980241
Abstract: A foil intermediate layer is arranged between machine parts forming a joint to protect the machine parts against fretting corrosion. The foil intermediate layer includes at least two foils or plies of which the respective inner contact surfaces contacting each other, have a lower coefficeint of friction and a higher resistance to wear and abrasion, than the respective outer surfaces of the foils or plies contacting the joint forming surfaces of the machine parts. Thus, relative motion between the machine parts forming the joint under oscillating loads or vibrations, is transmitted to the easily gliding wear resistant contact surfaces of the plies so that the machine parts are protected from fretting corrosion, whereby their operating lifetime is increased.

  • Patent number: 4671735
Abstract: The rotor of an axial-flow compressor with means for sealing the rotor blade tips relative to a casing wall provided with a coating is to be capable of abrasion but at the same time also low in wear. The present invention resolves these contradicting requirements for the coating on the casing in that individual blades, arranged between normally contoured, unshrouded rotor blades, are widened at their tips and reinforced with a radially outer layer, the material of which is matched to that of the coating. This will enable the coating to be subjected to less wear and to offer more resistance to erosion than heretobefore.
