  • Patent number: 7448201
Abstract: A honeycomb body, in particular for aftertreatment of exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine, includes an inlet surface, an outlet surface and a honeycomb structure through which a fluid can flow. The honeycomb structure is disposed between the inlet surface and the outlet surface. The honeycomb structure has a storage device for storing at least one component of the fluid. A measurement sensor measures a concentration of the component in the fluid. The measurement sensor is disposed in the honeycomb structure at a given minimum distance from the outlet surface. A method for treating a fluid with the honeycomb body is also provided. The honeycomb body and method advantageously enable components of the fluid, e.g. nitrogen oxides (NOx), to be stored and reliably prevent the component which is to be stored from breaking through.

  • Patent number: 6513324
Abstract: A device for cleaning exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine, especially a diesel engine, includes at least one catalyst carrier body through which an exhaust gas can flow. The catalyst carrier body is disposed in a casing tube and has a honeycomb-shaped structure. An electrical heating element has a supply terminal at each end and a twisted current path over an electrically insulating gap in the heating element. The heating element is a honeycomb body which is fixed to the catalyst carrier body by electrically insulating support elements and which is located downstream of the catalyst carrier body in exhaust gas flow direction. A honeycomb body, especially a particle filter, situated downstream, may be heated particularly effectively and a temperature required there may be reached and/or maintained, especially for igniting soot that has collected.

  • Patent number: 5303570
Abstract: A hollow workpiece having a tubular end portion is deformed by first fitting the workpiece into a die formed with a cavity adapted to receive the workpiece with the end portion of the workpiece projecting along an axis out of the die and then engaging over the projecting end portion of the workpiece a feed sleeve in a pressure-tight fit. The sleeve and workpiece are supported relative to each other such that the holding portion can slide in the sleeve and that the sleeve exerts substantially no axial force on the workpiece. Then an interior of the workpiece is pressurized through the sleeve and to deform the workpiece outward against an inner surface of the die.

  • Patent number: 5296532
Abstract: The invention relates to adhesive compositions for gluing wood containing aqueous vinyl ester graft copolymer dispersions and water-soluble acid metal salts or free acids, in which the adhesive compositions exhibit outstanding resistance to hot water and have high storage stability. The vinyl ester graft copolymer comprises from 2 to 12 percent by weight, based on the total weight of the graft copolymer, of one or more polyvinyl alcohols having a degree of hydrolysis of from 60 to 99 mol persent and 88 to 98 percent by weight, based on the total weight of the graft copolymer, of a grafting monomer mixture. The grafting monomer mixture contains from 5 to 50 percent by weight, based on the total weight of the monomer mixture, of vinyl esters of saturated, highly branched aliphatic monocarboxylic acids having 9 or 10 carbon atoms, vinyl pivalate, diisopropyl maleate, diisopropyl fumarate, vinyl chloride and mixtures thereof.

  • Patent number: 5279142
Abstract: An apparatus for pressure deforming a hollow workpiece having a tubular end portion has a die formed with a cavity adapted to receive the workpiece with the end portion of the workpiece projecting out of the die and a fitting movable along an axis toward and away from the die and formed with a seat sealingly engageable in a feed position over the projecting end portion of the workpiece. An annular self-tightening gland in the seat circumferentially engages in the feed position around the projecting end portion of the workpiece. A passage opening in the seat into the hollow workpiece when the fitting is engaged over the projecting end portion serves for pressurizing an interior of the workpiece and thereby deforming it outward against an inner surface of the die and for pressing the gland radially tightly against the workpiece and against the fitting.

  • Patent number: 5131293
Abstract: An arrangement for controlling in a motor vehicle an electrohydraulically controlled, automatically shifting transmission driven by an internal-combustion engine. The transmission has several shifting programs optimized according to different design criteria which may be selected either manually by the driver or automatically. Using a temperature sensor, a cold-start condition of the motor vehicle is sensed on the basis of which a transmission control system shifts at least for a limited time period according to a warmup shifting program in such a manner that the internal-combustion engine, under identical driving conditions, generates higher exhaust gas mass flows or exhaust gas energy flows than for gear positions shifted according to a consumption-optimized shifting program.
