Wilhelm Kleinlein has filed for patents to protect the following inventions. This listing includes patent applications that are pending as well as patents that have already been granted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

  • Publication number: 20110244354
Abstract: A contact used to electrically connect High-temperature density fuel cells together is provided. The contact includes at least one hollow cord which each has at least three contact surfaces with the fuel cell, of which two contact surfaces connect neighboring anode surfaces and the third contact surface connects the interconnector of the next High-temperature density fuel cell. A method for producing a fuel cells system including high-power density fuel cells is also provided.

  • Publication number: 20080003478
Abstract: Solid ceramic fuel cells operating at high temperatures are already known. This type of fuel cell is particularly the so-called solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC). In principle, the SOFC can be built in accordance with a planar concept or a tubular concept. The tubular concept has already been further developed in the so-called HPD configuration. According to an embodiment of the invention, the surface of the support structure in a delta fuel cell is geometrically enlarged in part in order to obtain an enlarged electrochemically active surface. Advantageously, at least one device for deflecting air from one direction to other directions is integrated into the support structure.

  • Patent number: 6074772
Abstract: A high temperature fuel cell and a method for producing the same include at least one interconnecting conducting plate which is associated with at least one electrode. A contact layer is disposed between the interconnecting conducting plate and the electrode. The contact layer is produced from an oxide mixed crystal powder which has a spinel structure and also contains, in addition to chromium, a divalent element selected from the group Ti, V, Mn, Fe, Co and Cu. The contact layer has high thermodynamic stability in addition to sufficient electrical conductivity. A high temperature fuel cell stack includes a number of the high temperature fuel cells.

  • Patent number: 5952116
Abstract: In a solid electrolyte high temperature fuel cell module and a method for operating the same, a plurality of fuel cells are stacked on one another for receiving an operating medium necessary for operating the fuel cells. Heat produced in the fuel cells during a combustion process is used for heating the operating medium before it is fed into the fuel cells.
