  • Patent number: 6412796
Abstract: In a drawbar-type rear wheel suspension for a motor vehicle comprising a drawbar axle body connected to the vehicle body by a universal drawbar body joint and having wheel support arms on which vehicle wheels are supported, and struts extending laterally between the free ends of the wheel support arms and the vehicle body and being connected thereto by elastic pivot joints, the elastic pivot joints of the struts at the vehicle body are disposed at a higher level than the universal drawbar joint and also the elastic pivot joints of the struts at the wheel support arms, and further, the drawbar axle body has a uniform cross-section rover its full length and provides for an elasticity such that the deformation of the drawbar axle caused by side forces is in the same range as the sum of the deformations of the elastic pivot joints of at least one strut.

  • Patent number: 4981308
Abstract: A rear axle suspension for a motor vehicle with a wheel guide member retained directly at the wheel carrier which includes a first wheel-outer guide arm and a second wheel-inner guide arm. Both guide arms are pivotally connected at the vehicle body by way of elastic joints, whereby one joint of the first guide arm is constructed yielding longitudinally and together with the further elastic joint of the second guide arm forms an approximately transversely extending guide rotary axis and an imaginary wheel guide pole to the rear of the axis of rotation of the wheel and outside of the track width. The wheel guide member includes a spring strut connected with the guide body by way of a wheel-adjusting device which is constructed as part of a wheel inner guide member and is positioned obliquely to the vehicle longitudinal center axis. The spring strut has as part of the wheel inner guide member a smaller length than an adjoining rigid guide member part of the guide member.

  • Patent number: 4886147
Abstract: A brake arrangement, especially a disk brake for vehicles which includes brake pads guided in a brake caliper on both sides of a brake disk that are operatively connected with hydraulically actuatable actuating pistons. Each actuating piston includes a bore directed toward the brake pad in which an insert member is arranged that includes an element covering the piston end surface and is held with play with respect to the inner circumferential and bottom surfaces of the bore. The element consists of a plate-shaped intermediate inset member which is connected with the two insert members and is provided on its surface facing the brake pad with a friction-increasing layer.

  • Patent number: 4799575
Abstract: A hydraulically controlled disk brake of a motor vehicle having at least one hydraulically actuable brake piston that is arranged in a caliper and is guided in at least one cylinder. The brake has a duct which continuously serially connects the cylinders in each half of the caliper, this duct having separate inlet and outlet openings. A check valve for each inlet and outlet opening is respectively arranged in front of the first cylinder after the inlet opening and behind the last cylinder before the outlet opening with respect to flow direction.

  • Patent number: 4326734
Abstract: A rear axle assembly for motor vehicles with an axle being of rigid design, running at right angles to the lengthwise axis of the vehicle is pivotably mounted to the vehicle body by a support bearing located on the central lengthwise axis of the vehicle and by guide bearings via two trailing arms connected to the axle beam, the axle beam being held away from the vehicle body shock absorber struts.

  • Patent number: 4181322
Abstract: A wheel suspension arrangement is provided for supporting and guiding a rear wheel and wheel carrier of a motor vehicle. More specifically, a lower wheel guide linkage is provided which includes a rear guide rod arm formed as a leaf spring which extends transversely of the vehicle from the wheel carrier to a pivot bearing support at the vehicle body. A front guide rod arm assembly is also provided which includes a longitudinal strut member extending from the wheel carrier forwardly. The forward end of the longitudinal strut member is elastically supported on a bearing rotating shaft by way of an elastic bushing interposed between a sleeve of the longitudinal strut member and the rotating bearing shaft. The rotating bearing shaft is in turn connected to the vehicle body by way of a bearing, which also permits limited movement thereof about a vertical axis.

  • Patent number: 4157840
Abstract: A vehicle wheel suspension arrangement which includes a wheel guide assembly having a transverse strut at least a portion of which is displaceable in a vehicle longitudinal direction and a form-rigid longitudinal strut. Bearing elements having a variable elasticity pivotally mount the longitudinal strut at the vehicle body with additional bearing elements of differing elasticities mounting the wheel guide assembly at a wheel carrier.

  • Patent number: 4155566
Abstract: A wheel suspension for the steerable front wheels of a motor vehicle comprising upper and lower guide rods fixed at one end to a vehicle body and elastically supported at another end by a wheel support, the wheel support comprising a first wheel support part connected to said upper guide rod at a first pivot point and a second wheel support part including a wheel carrier and a track rod connected to the lower guide rod at a second pivot point, said first and second wheel support parts being swingably connected with each other by an elastic member spaced from the pivot points and by a joint pin. In a preferred embodiment of the invention the first wheel support part is a guide element arranged within an elastic sleeve forming the elastic member and wherein the elastic sleeve is constructed to be more elastic in the vehicle longitudinal direction than in the vehicle transverse direction.
