  • Patent number: 5578651
Abstract: The present invention relates to hard polyurethane foams. These foams are produced by the reaction of 1) polyisocyanates, with 2) compounds having molecular weights of from 92 to 10,000 and having at least two hydrogen atoms which are reactive with isocyanate groups, in the presence of 3) hydrofluoroalkanes as foaming agents, and 4) solubilizers. Suitable solubilizers comprise one or more of ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 signify C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 -alkyl or together C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 -alkylene and n signifies an integer from 0 to 6; ##STR2## wherein R.sup.1 to R.sup.3 signify C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 -alkyl which is optionally substituted by halogens, C.sub.5 -C.sub.10 -cycloalkyl or optionally substituted aryl; ##STR3## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 signify C.sub.1 -C.sub.16 -alkyl or C.sub.5 -C.sub.10 -cycloalkyl; and/or ##STR4## wherein R signifies C.sub.1 -C.sub.20 alkyl or C.sub.5 -C.sub.10 cycloalkyl.

  • Patent number: 5428077
Abstract: Isocyanate-based foams are produced by the reaction of polyisocyanates with compounds with molecular weights of from 400 to 10,000 and having at least two hydrogen atoms active towards isocyanates in the presence of hydrocarbons which are vaporizable under the foaming conditions as blowing agents. The active hydrogen component is a mixture of a) one or more nitrogen-free polyethers having at least two hydrogen atoms active towards isocyanates and containing oxyethylene residues, and b) one or more polyethers having at least two hydrogen atoms active towards isocyanates and containing no oxyethylene groups.

  • Patent number: 5372789
Abstract: In devices for the production of a reaction mixture, which forms a foamed plastic, from at least two reaction components and a foaming agent, it is possible to determine the content of foaming agent in a reaction component mixed therewith in that an intermediate container is provided for this mixture. The intermediate container is provided with a circulating line in which are arranged a circulating pump and a temperature-compensating viscometer. Optionally, the foaming agent content can be automatically adjusted to the theoretical value via a computer and pulse lines by influencing the drive means of the dosing pumps for the respective reaction component and the foaming agent.
