  • Patent number: 6220075
Abstract: A low volume liquid handling system is described which includes a microdispenser employing a piezoelectric transducer attached to a glass capillary, a positive displacement pump for priming and aspirating liquid into the microdispenser, controlling the pressure of the liquid system, and washing the microdispenser between liquid transfers, and a pressure sensor to measure the liquid system pressure and produce a corresponding electrical signal. The pressure signal is used to verify and quantify the microvolume dispensed and is used to perform automated calibration and diagnostics on the microdispenser.

  • Patent number: 6203759
Abstract: In a microvolume liquid handling system, a system reservoir is connected with tubing to a pressure control system for controlling the liquid system pressure in the system reservoir. The system reservoir is coupled to one or more microdispensers through a distribution tube having a branched section for each microdispenser. In this embodiment, each microdispenser is coupled to its own flow sensor and to enable a system controller to respectively measure and control the flow of liquid in the each microdispenser.

  • Patent number: 5812247
Abstract: An arrangement for optically tracking moving objects and for measuring trajectories of the moving objects using triangulation. The arrangement includes a pair of measuring locations including a first measuring location and a second measuring location disposed at a distance with respect to the first measuring location. The arrangement further includes a plurality of pairs of theodolites for simultaneously tracking and measuring the trajectories of the moving objects, each pair of theodolites being effective for tracking and measuring a trajectory of a corresponding moving object and further having a first theodolite and a second theodolite. First theodolites of each pair of theodolites together form a first set of theodolites disposed on a common azimuthal axis at the first measuring location; and second theodolites of each pair of theodolites together form a second set of theodolites disposed on a common azimuthal axis at the second measuring location.

  • Patent number: 4849583
Abstract: A control device for electrical wheelchairs or the like having a manual control lever which is so supported that it can be moved in any direction desired, and is biased into a central neutral position by means of a spring. Two electro-mechanical adjustment elements, e.g., resistors or potentiometers, are provided, the electrical starting values of which are dependent on their mechanical settings. Two mechanical transmission devices each transfer only one of two movements of the control lever in directions essentially perpendicular to one another to the mechanical-electrical adjustment elements. The mechanical transmission devices comprise two plastic plates slidably-disposed one over the other, each containing an inclined elongated slot disposed at right angles to each other. The plates carry projecting studs which actuate said electro-mechanical adjustment elements when the plates move.

  • Patent number: 4341278
Abstract: An electrically driven wheelchair having steerable rear wheels controllable by means of a joystick control operating an electromechanical steering mechanism including a control circuit. The electrical control circuit includes a voltage divider which receives a voltage determined according to the travelling speed of the wheelchair to enable the turning circle of the steering mechanism to be adjusted in relation to the travelling speed, so that at high speeds a large turning circle only is available while at low speeds a small turning circle is allowed, thereby minimizing the possibility of tipping the wheelchair over by turning too sharply at high speed.
