  • Publication number: 20060272275
Abstract: In a method to produce a furniture body, a V-shaped groove is cut into a board of wood or similar material that includes a veneer on its outer surface from its inner side along each of several straight lines in the area of the body corner edge to be formed to a depth meeting the veneer. Subsequently, the body sides separated from each other are pivoted together by closing the V-shaped groove that forms the miter faces on which adhesive was placed, whereby the veneer layer is deformed or broken along the edge that is formed. For the purpose of producing a pivoting hinge, a smaller starter groove is cut to a depth up to the veneer layer at each location before the V-shaped groove is produced. This smaller starter groove possesses a groove base with a final width that extends to both sides over the face area of the V-shaped groove to be produced subsequently.

  • Patent number: 6619007
Abstract: A process for producing structures includes: cutting a transverse groove in a panel; introducing a plastic material into the groove; applying an imprint to the panel; cutting V-shaped grooves in the panel and folding the panel to form a structure. The plastic material is initially free-flowing and subsequently solidifying. The plastic material forms a hinge which may be flush with the panel or project beyond the panel.

  • Patent number: 6286198
Abstract: A structure is formed by folding a panel along one or more V-grooves cut in the inside surface of the panel. The verticies formed by the V-groove on the folded panel includes film hinges which are formed by injecting a plastic material in a groove formed on the outside surface of the panel.

  • Patent number: 5730195
Abstract: An apparatus for machining workpieces includes a feed conveyor which has an alignment station and a discharge conveyor which adjoin a machining zone. Between the feed conveyor and the discharge conveyor, there is a transport device which is disposed at one side of the machining field and which has displaceable work holders which grasp the workpieces at one of their edges. The transport device receives the workpieces at the alignment station at the end of the feed conveyor, conveys them at substantially the same level to the machining station in the machining zone, transfers them there to vacuum work holders on a work rest, and then transports them, after the machining, to the discharge conveyor.

  • Patent number: 5144737
Abstract: A compact machine for applying and contour milling or cutting of edge strips or laminates at the narrow sides of plate-shaped workpieces, in a forward cycle and a reverse cycle, with a single operator location and in continuously travelling manner, with a single conveying device at which the plates are transversely arranged such that the respective leading narrow side is arranged perpendicularly with respect to a longitudinal, main axis of travel, and the respective plate overhangingly extends from the conveying device for access, as well as being secured by clamps. The apparatus also includes an edge-gluing device and a shaping-milling device, both of which, with respect to the longitudinal axis, are sequentially arranged laterally at the conveying device.

  • Patent number: 4853058
Abstract: An apparatus for adhering a tape to a nonstraight edge of a generally planar workpiece has a stationary workpiece station, clamps retaining the workpiece stationarily in the station, a carriage displaceable adjacent the station parallel to the plane of the workpiece in generally perpendicular longitudinal and transverse directions, and a roller engageable with the workpiece and rotatable on the carriage about an axis generally perpendicular to the workpiece plane. The carriage is displaced in the directions relative to the stationary workpiece to roll the roller around the workpiece edge. A guide feeds a tape from a supply of the tape and an adhesive on the carriage to the roller. The tape is pressed by the roller against the workpiece edge as the roller rolls around the workpiece edge so that the tape is adhered to the workpiece edge.

  • Patent number: 4802936
Abstract: A tape is adhered to a corner-defining nonstraight edge of a generally planar workpiece with an apparatus comprising a stationary workpiece station, clamps for retaining the workpiece in the station, a roller engageable with the workpiece and rotatable on the carriage about an axis generally perpendicular to the workpiece plane, and a supply of the tape and an adhesive on the carriage. The roller and workpiece are relatively displaced to roll the roller around the workpiece edge and over the corner thereof while pressing the tape with the roller against the workpiece edge and corner. The tape feed is automatically monitored to determine which portion of the tape will be pressed over the edge corner and a notch is cut in the tape at the portion to be pressed to the corner. Then this notched portion of the tape is pressed over the corner without overlapping the tape.
