  • Patent number: 6431929
Abstract: A drive system includes a drive shaft with first and second shaft sections connected by a diaphragm clutch having a diaphragm assembly. The radially outer end of the diaphragm assembly is connected to a disk having a first toothing arranged on one face of the disk. The first toothing engages in corresponding second toothing on a flange connected to the first shaft section when the diaphragm assembly is subjected to an axial preload. A contact-pressure device that is controllable by remote control in the stationary condition acts against the disk to produce the preload.

  • Patent number: 6305998
Abstract: A Marine drive mechanism has a twin-engine distribution transmission for driving a propeller-shaft train (12) supported on bearings (4). The drive mechanism (1) and the transmission (3), which is rigidly connected to it, being fastened to the bottom (6) of the hull. A pressure bearing (23) accommodates and transmits the thrust exerted by the propeller (5) by way of the propeller-shaft train. A coupling (3) engages and disengages the drive mechanism. The drive mechanism and the transmission are individually supported, the drive mechanism by resilient supports (9) and the transmission by resilient supports (14) and resilient bearings (13). The pressure bearing is built into the transmission. • Patent number: 6183317
Abstract: There is indicated a ship drive consisting of a drive engine and a propeller shaft which is directly connected therewith and provided with a propeller and the thrust of which is taken up by a thrust bearing. In addition, there is provided an auxiliary drive consisting of an electric engine which is to operate selectably as a generator or a motor and which is connected with a transmission by way of a clutch. In that case a gearwheel of the transmission surrounds the propeller intermediate shaft and is connected therewith by way of a flexible coupling. A play-free, releasable and mechanically positive connection is arranged between transmission and the drive engine, which has a flange at the drive side, on a thrust shaft and is combined with an auxiliary thrust bearing, which has forward and reverse pressure blocks and which is activatable in the case of auxiliary or emergency operation of the ship.

  • Patent number: 5799524
Abstract: A shaped and pierced hollow workpiece is made by first confining a hollow metal blank in a cavity of a die which has an inner surface and is formed with a lateral compartment. The blank is internally pressurized to press it outward against the inner surface of the cavity while forming at the compartment an outwardly projecting bulge. A tool is pressed against an outer surface of the bulge and the bulge is pressed inward so as to at least partially to invert it and press a central portion of the bulge against an opposite inside wall of the blank. A hole is then machined through the blank where the central portion of the bulge engages the opposite inside wall.

  • Patent number: 4179887
Abstract: Two hydraulic brakes or clutches being primary users, are alternately, delayedly, hydraulically energized from a constant volumetric flow rate pump feeding also a secondary user via a pressure controller with a differential piston operated by feedback ducts from the primary users via a throttle valve. The latter valve is bypassed through a check valve for undelayed de-energization. A selector valve is disposed between the branch point for the secondary user and upstream as to energizing fluid from the feedback connection to the primary user. The pressure controller is described further as to several structural details.

  • Patent number: 4173245
Abstract: Apparatus for mounting and dismounting vehicle tires, comprises a disc on which the tire is releasably clamped by screw-threaded members, and means to rotate the disc about a vertical axis. A roller arranged generally radially of the axis of the tire, with the axis of the roller horizontal, engages the bead of the tire to flex the tire for mounting and dismounting the tire from its rim. The roller is mounted for bodily vertical movement on a vertical spindle in a direction parallel to the axis of the disc on which the tire is mounted, and also for horizontal swinging movement about an axis adjacent its end remote from the axis of the tire.

  • Patent number: 4154628
Abstract: A method of quench hardening a gear having a gear rim, a hub, and two rim carrying gear disk includes carburizing the gear and quenching it subsequently in a saline bath, and is improved by releasably covering the perforated disks with perforated supplemental disks, the perforations are closed during carburization but open during quenching. The gear is turned about its vertically positioned axis during quenching; the supplemental disks are removed subsequently so that the gear disks are not carburized.

  • Patent number: 4130353
Abstract: A slide projector with controls for the slide changing system and for the stop associated with the slide changing system where there are separately moving insertion and storage feeder arms for the slide changer, and at least two routes for inserting and removing the slides. Preferred motor driven cams (B",R",S",T") act as controls for the stop (8,11) and for slide changing and are operationally timed so that the closing process for the stop is initiated simultaneously or nearly simultaneously with the beginning of the removal of the projected slide (19a) from the slide stage plane and with the insertion of a new slide (19c). The process of stop opening begins immediately and without any pause after the complete closure of the stop which coincides with the terminated insertion of the new slide.

  • Patent number: 3958465
Abstract: A shaft carrying a cutter head is bolted to the output shaft of a speed reducer gear in coaxial configuration and having a casing journalled on the shaft. The casing carries plural drive motors and the gear has a combining stage as input. The shafts are mounted in thrust and pendulum bearings in a frame and the casing is held against rotation on that frame. The output stage of the gear is a planetary gear with a spider from which extends the output shaft and a hollow shaft and in opposite directions. The casing is journalled on the shaft by bearings engaging the hollow shaft and the output shaft at opposite sides of the spider.
