  • Patent number: 6453759
Abstract: The apparatus makes it possible to change a desired sample volume—even during operation—in a simple manner without mechanical intervention, with any accumulation solids of a sample contained in a sample collecting vessel being avoided, so that a sample representative of the medium is obtained. The apparatus comprises a control unit which controls a pneumatic control gear and switches a pump by means of which the medium is drawn into a sample collecting vessel via a hose or tube used as a suction line. A detection unit incorporated in the suction line signals the presence of the medium to the control unit, which then controls the time period for taking the desired volume of the sample. The sample volume obtained is drained off into a sample container via a drain device.

  • Patent number: 5797175
Abstract: A process for inserting an insert element into a flat sheet metal piece to form a connected element includes the steps of providing the insert element with a head and a shank. A concentric annular groove forms a constriction between the head and the shank. A plurality of separate projections are circumferentially arranged on a seating surface of the head and provide a twisting resistance between the insert element and the sheet metal piece. Each separate projection has a length that extends approximately radially relative to a longitudinal axis of the insert element. The sheet metal piece is provided with a perforation for receiving the shank. The perforation has an edge that forms a collar that projects out from a plane defined by a surface of the sheet metal piece.

  • Patent number: 5609766
Abstract: In a water treatment process using ozone, to prevent bromate formation a quantity of bromide-containing water for treatment is first set to a pH value of less than 6.5 by feeding in CO.sub.2, unless the water already contains the requisite CO.sub.2 by origin. CO.sub.2 and ozone are then simultaneously fed in for a period of several minutes. The feed stream of CO.sub.2 is designed to maintain the pH value, and sufficient ozone is fed to the quantity of water to produce oxidation and sterilization.

  • Patent number: 5516352
Abstract: Each neck tool half is mounted on a neck tool holder and together they are movable from the illustrated initial position in a parison mold station to a finishing mold station. On each neck tool holder is secured a movable part of a distribution device for cooling air. A stationary part of the distribution device transfers cooling air from a stationary supply device having a valve. Between the stationary and movable parts there is a jointing gap which is inclined to the vertical. The cooling air is blown through nozzle apertures against the outside of the neck tool half.

  • Patent number: 4865161
Abstract: A brake having a brake carrier and saddle is disclosed in which a sliding bolt fastened to the saddle is received in a bore in the carrier. After actuation by the brake by hydraulic piston, the saddle is returned to its rest position by a compression spring. A friction element is provided between the sliding bolt in the bore for limiting the travel of the saddle in response to the bias of the spring. The friction element exerts a force greater than the bias of the spring but less than that exerted by the brake actuator, such that the brake is self-adjusting for lining wear. The brake is disclosed in plural embodiments.
