Publication number: 20050040687Abstract: Arching mechanism, for instance for backrests of seats, medical or orthopaedic apparatus or casings and the like, with a pressure element wherein at least one traction element connected with a tensioning mechanism engages, which, when the mechanism is actuated can produce bulging by preserving a relative elevation of apex of the convexity; the arching mechanism can comprise a frame with inserted pressure elements actuatable by adjusting device(s), whereby frame segments are length-variable pressure elements; traction elements provided with tensioning mechanism can engage a slitted, overlapping or bellows-like bulging body for the opening and closing of these areas, which produces a curving of the bulging body in a predetermined direction or directions.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 17, 2004Publication date: February 24, 2005Applicant: Schukra Geratebau AGInventors: Wilhelm Schuster, Wilhelm Schuster

Publication number: 20040124061Abstract: A braking drive for a control cable or shaft has a drive shaft with a radial journal. A contractible brake ring has opposing ends defining a gap, with the journal in the gap The ring has an exterior surface biased outwards and two interior detents. A stationary interior housing circumscribes the ring, with an interior surface in frictional contact with the ring. An exterior portion of the housing has bosses being disposed within the detents of the ring. Friction between the ring and the housing interior arrests rotation of the journal and drive shaft until a force on the exterior portion of the housing moves the bosses, transferring the force to the ring via the detents, whereby the ring is contracted, releasing the frictional brake between the housing and the ring, thereby allowing rotation of the drive shaft.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 13, 2003Publication date: July 1, 2004Applicant: Schukra Geratebau AGInventor: Wilhelm Schuster

Publication number: 20010042670Abstract: A brake drive is described which is characterized in that at least one brake drum (1) largely secured against rotation has in its interior at least one expanding ring (2) which is larger in diameter prior to installation, which after installation has a first inherent expansion friction against rotation owing to its expansion force at all points of the friction faces (5), which inherent expansion friction undergoes an additional expansion and braking intensification up to potential total blocking in the event of a reverse torque on the driven shaft (3) via the driving journal (4) thereof and the driving journal's circular thrust on one of the two end faces of the expanding ring (2) which total blocking contracts the expanding ring owing rotation of the primary hand wheel (6) or primary contracting pivoted lever (6a) at the input side with the aid of the two contracting journals (6′ and 6″) securely attached thereto, again owing to a circular tensile force on the opposing end face of the expanding rType: ApplicationFiled: March 9, 2001Publication date: November 22, 2001Inventor: Wilhelm Schuster

Patent number: 5050930Abstract: A lordosis-support backrest for an automotive vehicle has a pressure element mounted upon vertical wires affixed to the frame of the backrest and guided along these wires. A transmission on the wires driving a rack on the pressure element displaces the pressure element along the wires while a similar transmission affixed to the pressure element at an upper portion thereof has its rack connected by a rocker lever and links to upper and lower portion of the pressure element to control the degree of bulging of the pressure element. The transmissions are driven by flexible shafts connected to respective motors mounted at spaced locations on the frame.Type: GrantFiled: August 3, 1990Date of Patent: September 24, 1991Inventors: Wilhelm Schuster, Wilhelm Schuster, Jr.

Patent number: 4785301Abstract: A method for producing a spherical radar reflector containing triple reflectors and composed of identically shaped eighths of a sphere is described. The eighths of the sphere consist of foam material and their plane surface, which are in contact with each other, are constructed to be reflecting. The eighths of the sphere are individually expansion molded in appropriate molds and the plane surfaces of the eighths of the sphere are covered with material reflecting radar rays. This material can consist of metal foils or can be a mixture of an adhesive and of metal particles which are uniformly distributed in the adhesive.Type: GrantFiled: December 19, 1986Date of Patent: November 15, 1988Assignee: Marlene SchaferInventors: Marlene Schafer, Wilhelm Schuster, Jurgen Stahl

Patent number: 4782981Abstract: A dispenser for shaped solids, in particular for tablets and pills of very small format, is described. In a cylindrical housing, a dosing device is inserted between a stock container and a collecting chamber, part of the dosing device being rotatable about the longitudinal axis of the housing. The dosing device consists of three parts, i.e. (a) a cylindrical ring part from whose inner wall a lug projects radially, (b) a dosing wheel which can be inserted into the ring part and rotated about the longitudinal axis of the housing, and (c) a base part which can be inserted into the dosing wheel. The dosing wheel has a perforated plate with dosing orifices arranged in the peripheral region. A rim projects at right angles from the peripheral edge of the perforated plate, locking notches assigned to the dosing orifices being provided on the inner wall of the rim. The base part is inserted into the rim of the dosing wheel and is provided with an ejection hole for the tablet or pill to be dispensed.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 1987Date of Patent: November 8, 1988Assignee: Knoll AGInventor: Wilhelm Schuster
