  • Patent number: 5308160
Abstract: In a process for the mixing of beverage components, in particular syrup and water, in which a first component is introduced from a storage chamber into a measuring chamber with a specific volume and a second component is metered in accordance with the volume and the desired mixing ratio and both components are then discharged into a collecting chamber, when the measuring chamber can only partly be filled upon the introduction of the first component from an insufficiently filled storage chamber, the amount of the first component introduced into the measuring chamber is measured and the second component is subsequently metered according to the measured amount of the first component. In this fashion, small residual amounts of syrup can be conveniently processed with a consistently high mixing accuracy.

  • Patent number: 5293909
Abstract: Apparatus for mixing beverage components, in particular sirup and water, having two separate reception chambers which receive the components and are each provided with an inlet and an outlet. To improve the mixing results in such an apparatus in a constructionally simple way, the inflow of a first component, in particular water, to a first reception chamber is first passed through a second reception chamber filled with a second component, in particular sirup, and then through a transition portion arranged between the first and second reception chambers, the transition portion having a reduced cross-sectional area in comparison with the cross-sectional area of the first reception chamber, before it flows into the first chamber. The component within the second reception chamber is the entrained in the component flowing into the first reception chamber. Thereafter the mixture of the components is discharged from the first and second reception chambers by flowing it out of the second reception chamber.

  • Patent number: 5219405
Abstract: A device for filling PET bottles employs a cam driven vertically movable carriage mounted on the outside of the liquid storage tank adjacent each filler valve inside of the tank. A bracket mounted to the lower end of each carriage has a flat plate extending horizontally under a filler valve. A bottle gripper, having an open side slot for engaging under the collar near the mouth of a PET bottle, is suspended on two bolts which extend slidably through the flat plate. Normally uncompressed springs are interposed between the heads of the bolts and the top of the plate to hold the gripper against the bottom of the flat plate. A cam lifts the carriage after the gripper engages a bottle under its collar to initiate a seal between the bottle mouth and filler valve and as the carriage continues upward by a small amount for latching to the tank. The springs are compressed and a gap forms between the flat plate and the gripper. The plate compresses the spring which generates the force to increase the sealing force.

  • Patent number: 5065799
Abstract: In apparatus for filling cans with beverage the can is coupled to the filler valve and purged of atmospheric air with a mostly inert gas and air mixture derived from the space of the liquid in a storage tank. When the exhaust valve is closed, another valve opens to permit pure inert gas stored in a reservoir to flow into the can and pressurize it to slightly above atmospheric pressure but below the pressure in the storage tank. A pre-pressurization valve is then opened to let some of the inert gas and air mixture in the storage tank flow to the can which is occupied by the substantially pure inert gas so practically none of the downflowing gas and air mixture from the storage tank enters the can although it fills the chamber to which the can is connected and thereby pressurizes the can. When the can pressure and storage tank pressure become equal, a liquid control valve opens to drain liquid from the tank into the can.

  • Patent number: 4729204
Abstract: At the upper side of the star wheel bottle feeder of a bottle capping machine, a chamber which encompasses the bottle neck is attached at each pocket in the periphery of the star wheel in which the bottle neck is registered as it is transported in a circular orbit. At the top side, the chamber has an opening for a reciprocating sealing element which revolves with the star wheel. The chamber has a circular internal bore and an opening on its radially outermost side that allows bottles to be passed through it and into a pocket on the star wheel. There is a nozzle slot at the radial inside of the chamber diametrically opposite from the outside gas exit opening. The gas input slot has an elbow connected to it and the elbow is connected to a gas distributor valve which is, in turn, connected to a source of carbon dioxide.

  • Patent number: 4679533
Abstract: A pneumatic starter arrangement includes a pneumatic actuator having a piston supporting for axial displacement a starter pinion to engage or disengage a flywheel gear of an internal combustion engine. A pressure air source is connected to the actuator via a supply branch conduit including a pilot valve. A starter motor which rotates the starter pinion is connected to the pressure air supply via a main control valve. To insure flawless engagement of the starter pinion with the flywheel gear, a bypass conduit with a relief valve is connected between the supply branch conduit and the starter motor. The main control valve is normally in its closed position and is controlled by a switching conduit leading to a port in the pneumatic actuator so that when the piston of the actuator displaces the starter pinion in its fully engaged position, the main control valve is switched on and the starter motor is activated.

  • Patent number: 4655029
Abstract: A method and apparatus for filling a bottle with an oxygen sensitive liquid such as beer in which the bottle is pre-evacuated, pressurized with pure CO.sub.2, over-filled with liquid at constant pressure and then brought back to the proper fill level by injecting pure CO.sub.2 and forcing the excess back into the gas pressurized liquid storage tank while the bottle is still coupled to the filling head. After uncoupling, the bottle is transported to under a closure cap applying device at which there are nozzles that project CO.sub.2 under the device and over and around the mouth of the bottle so the space even within the cap is purged of air. The CO.sub.2 used for purging is adequately free of air since it is taken from the storage tank to which CO.sub.2 is returned from the bottles as a result of filling liquid displacing the CO.sub.2 gas which is diluted only to the extent that pre-evacuation is not perfect.

  • Patent number: 4637438
Abstract: Containers such as bottles, which are to be filled with liquid from a tank pressurized with non-oxidizing gas, are coupled to a filling device and evacuated of air that is discharged to the atmosphere. Next gas from the tank is fed to the bottles. When gas pressure in the tank and bottle equalize, the liquid flows by gravity into the bottle to displace the gas and return it to the tank. After filling with liquid is cut off a charge of pure non-oxidizing gas is injected in the bottle to fill it to the top with pure gas. Excess pure gas is fed back into the tank to make up for the dilution of the gas that results from the evacuation of air from the bottles being necessarily imperfect. The bottles are uncoupled from the device after they are filled with pure gas and they are then sealed.

  • Patent number: 4589453
Abstract: In the containing filling device the tank for the liquid to be dispensed into containers has gas somewhat over atmospheric pressure applied to the liquids surface. Each filling station has an outlet leading to the container being filled, a gas valve coupling the tank to the container and a fluid valve coupling the tank to the conveyor. The liquid above the tip of the tube that leads from the gas valve is forced back into the tank by means of gas pressure injected into the outlet after the filling operation is ended. In which case the fluid valve is forced closed and the gas valve is forced open. Because of the forced open gas valve the injection of gas takes place at very low pressure differential, causing neither disturbance of the liquid in the container and in the tank nor blow out of liquid below the level of the tank of the gas return tube.
