  • Patent number: 4989790
Abstract: The nozzle cap, spring valve and body assembly for a trigger sprayer comprises a nozzle cap, a spring valve and a body. The nozzle cap is capable of being screwed upon the nose bushing portion of the body. The nozzle cap has an outlet orifice located in its front face and a sleeve extending rearwardly from a front wall thereof. The sleeve is threaded inside the rear portion thereof and has an internally contoured surface on a short annular formation that is located forwardly of the threads on the back side of the front wall to provide an inner annular surface and an outer annular surface rearward of an inner wall surface of the nozzle cap and forward of the internal threads inside the sleeve. The nose bushing portion of the body has a cavity in which is received the spring valve.

  • Patent number: 4925106
Abstract: The foam nozzle assembly is mounted to a trigger sprayer and comprises an outer barrel portion defining a foam generating chamber into which liquid is ejected in a conical spray from an orifice in a back wall of the foam generating chamber. The cone of the spray subtends a predetermined angle. A perforated wall is located in the outer barrel portion and is spaced forwardly of the back wall having the orifice from which the conical spray is ejected. The perforated wall has ribs and slots therein and the back edges of the portions of the ribs between slots are rounded to provide a surface upon which the conical spray can infringe and be deflected in different directions to mix with air in the foam generating chamber to create foam. The rounded back edge of each of the ribs is defined by a generally circular round having a given radius R. Preferably, the width of each slot is defined as S and the radius R is in a ratio to the slot width S, R:S, of between approximately 1:2 and 1:4 and preferably 1:3.

  • Patent number: 4917303
Abstract: The snap-in trigger for mounting in a trigger sprayer housing comprises a trigger which includes flexible members carrying pivotal mounting elements which mate with corresponding elements in a base, e.g., the sprayer housing. The flexible members are flexed towards each other during attachment of the trigger to the base, to allow easy mating of the pivotal mounting elements. The trigger also includes a flexible locking member which can be pivoted between a first position in which the locking members is spaced apart from the vicinity of the pivotal mounting elements, (e.g., during mating of the pivotal members while the flexible members are flexed together) and a second position in which the locking member is positioned directly between the flexible members in the vicinity of the pivotal mounting elements, preventing the flexible members from moving towards one another, and thus assuring proper mating configuration between the pivotal mounting members.
