Patent number: 9320257Abstract: The invention includes an assembly to provide an animal access to a space. The assembly includes an entrance gate which, in a first position provides access to the space and, in a second position, blocks the access to the space. The assembly further includes a measuring device configured to measure a walking speed of the animal, and to transmit a signal indicative of the measured walking speed. The assembly also includes a control device configured to receive the signal from the measuring device, and to control the entrance gate depending on the received signal. By using the measured walking speed of the animal, the control device can, for example, close the entrance gate sooner or close it more quickly if there is a threat of an animal being crushed.Type: GrantFiled: April 19, 2011Date of Patent: April 26, 2016Assignee: LELY PATENT N.V.Inventors: Serge Louis Loosveld, Wilhelmus Johannes Adrianus Van Lier

Method of determining a remaining capacity of an energy source of an information tag for agriculture
Patent number: 8760305Abstract: The invention relates to a method of determining a remaining capacity of an energy source of an agricultural information tag. The method includes adjusting, such as increasing or decreasing, a counter at the occurrence of an event which leads to a consumption of energy from the energy source, and determining a remaining capacity of the energy source from a value of the counter. The event may include the elapsing of a predetermined period of time and a transmission of information by the information tag.Type: GrantFiled: September 9, 2011Date of Patent: June 24, 2014Assignee: Lely Patent N.V.Inventor: Wilhelmus Johannes Adrianus Van Lier -
Patent number: 8397673Abstract: Method of supplying feed to animals with the aid of a group of feed stations which are accessible to those animals, wherein the feed stations, following the identification of an animal, supply feed to that animal according to a feed program for that animal adjusted to that individual animal and taking into account data relating to earlier feed supplies to that animal, wherein data relating to a feed supply to an animal are made available to each feed station via data connections, and wherein, in the event of failure of the data connection for at least one of the feed stations, at least one of the feed stations is operated to switch over to a safety feed program to reduce the feed supply to an animal identified at that feed station.Type: GrantFiled: March 24, 2011Date of Patent: March 19, 2013Assignee: Lely Patent N.V.Inventors: Wilhelmus Johannes Adrianus Van Lier, Arie Van Der Wouden, Leendert Kool, Meindert Graveland

Patent number: 6742474Abstract: A system for automatically milking animals is provided with a milking robot and a computer which is capable of being connected to a plurality of measuring instruments for a plurality of functions of the system and physiological conditions of the animals being milked. Monitoring programs for the functions and conditions are installed in a computer which, based on comparison reference data, determines that one or more components of the system is likely to fail or otherwise malfunction and reports on abnormal physiological conditions of animals being milked by the system. As a result of the computer determinations, diagnoses of the likelihood of failure or other malfunction of one or more of the system's components, and of abnormal conditions of the animals being milked, are transmitted to interested parties including a user and a service mechanic together with the appropriate actions to be taken.Type: GrantFiled: April 1, 2002Date of Patent: June 1, 2004Assignee: Lely Enterprises A.G.
