  • Patent number: 8729800
Abstract: The invention provides a high intensity discharge lamp comprising a ceramic discharge vessel having sealed first and second end plugs and an external electrical antenna, which is used as “active” antenna for facilitating ignition of the high intensity discharge lamp. The discharge vessel encloses a discharge volume and comprises two electrodes and contains a filling.

  • Patent number: 8456087
Abstract: A discharge lamp includes a body portion having inner and outer body walls and first and second ends. The inner body wall defines at least part of a cavity located between the first and second ends. First and second end parts have inner end-part and outer end-part walls and a hole extending between the inner end-part wall and the outer end-part wall. The first and second end parts are each located, at least in part, within the cavity and separate from each other so as to maintain a gas under pressure. First and second electrodes are included in the cavity. An antenna has first and second antenna ends and is formed on the outer body wall of the body portion and the outer end-part wall of at least one of the first and second end parts. The antenna is not directly connected to the first and second electrodes.

  • Patent number: 7764019
Abstract: A lamp includes an envelope of a vitreous composition, having a pinched part at least one end to form a seal isolating an interior of the envelope from the environment of the envelope, and an arrangement for conducting electrical current to the interior of the envelope, having a section embedded in one of the pinched parts of the envelope and a section external to the envelope. At least part of embedded section of the arrangement for conducting electrical current is at least partly surrounded by a composition including at least one of phosphorus in a non-volatile form and an acid thereof.

  • Publication number: 20090267510
Abstract: In a discharge lamp comprising a discharge vessel enclosed with space by an outer, a hydrogen getter is used comprising more than 70% by weight of Y and one or more Y alloys from Al and/or Mn. The getter effectively removes hydrogen from the outer bulb.
