  • Patent number: 10369826
Abstract: Disclosed is a security document including an image area, a repeating image pattern in the image area of mutually spaced image elements at a mutual distance D and a layer of a plastics material overlying the image area and an array of lenses in the plastics material. The lenses are spaced at a mutual distance L which may be equal to D or which may differ from D, the array of lenses overlying only a part of the image area surface and are formed in the plastics material within an image contour. Within the contour an image may be observed such as a Moiré magnification or a Moiré effect of light and dark stripes. The lenses may be formed for instance by laser ablation or by imprinting.

  • Publication number: 20090097944
Abstract: Book-like construction (1) such as a passport with a number of pages including a non-hinged holder page. The non-hinged holder page (2) is composed of a relatively stiff material and has to be connected by a separate hinged part (5) to the remainder of the book-like construction (1). The hinged part (5) according to the invention is made of a fabric-reinforced plastic material in which the plastic can be fusible with the plastic of the non-hinged holder page (2). The fixing is carried out ultrasonically, and more particularly by providing surface irregularities on one of the two parts to be fixed to each other.

  • Patent number: 7370807
Abstract: An identity card that can be used, for example, in a travel document or as a separate card, includes at least two core layers, preferably of polycarbonate material, that are fused to one another. In each of the core layers there is a recess, each of a different size. On assembly these recesses become situated on top of one another and a semiconductor chip is accommodated in the larger recess formed as a result. A covering layer can be fused to at least one of the core layers, and a layer that can be written on by laser can also be applied. There can be (semi-)transparent windows on top of one another in the core layer and if the covering layer is transparent, light can be transmitted, it being possible to define a specific pattern in the windows.

  • Patent number: 6213702
Abstract: Method for manufacturing a booklet, such as for instance an ID, which booklet is provided with a number of sheets of paper and a cover material, each sheet having a front and a reverse side, each side comprising two pages, which method comprises connecting the sheets of paper to each other along a line between the pages, attaching the cover material to the outside of the booklet, and making a fold in the sheets of paper to form a back of the booklet, and bringing the booklet to the correct size, characterized in that the method further comprises attaching a band, which can be attached in the booklet in the same manner as in which the paper sheets are attached to each other, and mechanically attaching a plate to the band, the plate being at least partially made of synthetic material, and having a front and a reverse side, each side comprising one page. Booklet, manufactured according to a method according to the invention.
