  • Publication number: 20130164315
Abstract: The present invention provides a screening method for identifying a peptide capable of inducing a T cell response comprising: a) contacting a peptide having a level of identity with a sequence of a protein of a virus, with a test sample comprising T cells obtained from blood from a subject who is currently or has been recently infected with the virus, b) quantifying the response of the T cells to the peptide, c) comparing the T cells' response in b) to a response of a control sample comprising T cells obtained from blood from a subject who is not currently infected nor been recently infected with the virus, when contacted with the peptide, wherein a greater response to the peptide in b) than in c) is indicative of a peptide capable of inducing a T cell response.

  • Publication number: 20130166730
Abstract: Systems and methods for calculating and presenting confidence interval(s) for key performance indicator(s) (KPIs) are described. For example, in some embodiments, a method may include identifying vectors representing network events observed by a network monitoring system, each vector including: a dimension, an indication of a sampling ratio with which a respective event was observed, and a value associated with the dimension. The method may also include calculating a KPI corresponding to the observed events for the dimension based, at least in part, upon the values. The method may further include calculating a confidence associated with the KPI, based, at least in part, upon the sampling ratios. In some cases, events may be observed with different sampling ratios. Additionally or alternatively, sampling ratios may include adaptive sampling ratios controlled by the network monitoring system in response to network or resource loading (e.g.

  • Publication number: 20130163438
Abstract: Systems and methods for data integrity scoring and visualization for network and customer experience monitoring are described. In some embodiments, a method may include receiving a first set of vectors, each vector representing a network event generated by a network testing system, each vector including a plurality of dimensions and a first plurality of values, each value associated with a corresponding one of the dimensions. The method may also include identifying a second set of vectors representing at least a portion of the network events as observed by a network monitoring system, each vector in the second set of vectors including the plurality of dimensions and a second plurality of values. The method may further include calculating a presence score as a ratio between a number of vectors in the second and first sets of vectors, and/or an accuracy score as a measure of a discrepancy between corresponding values.

  • Patent number: 8454268
Abstract: Methods and systems for gas sequestration are provided. The systems include a porous storage reservoir containing a dense fluid; a first tubing string, configured to provide and inject a gaseous emissions (GE) stream at or near the top of the porous storage reservoir above the base portion of the porous storage reservoir; and a second tubing string configured to withdraw the dense fluid from the base portion of the porous storage reservoir. In some embodiments, the first and second tubing strings may be encased in a single well bore and may include measurement and control equipment for pressure management of the injection locations. The withdrawn dense fluids may be re-injected into an overlying porous reservoir or may be sent to the surface for treatment. Methods are provided for injection of GE and withdrawal of dense fluids for safe, long term gaseous sequestration of significant portions of carbon dioxide (CO2) and associated gases (gaseous emissions, GE).

  • Publication number: 20130135712
Abstract: The disclosure is directed to a method of making yttrium oxide, Y2O3, coatings on substrates suitable for use at infrared wavelengths, including use in the 2-12 ?m range. The coating method eliminates or substantially eliminates the absorptions peaks that typically appear at approximately 3.0 ?m, 6.6 ?m and 7.1 ?m. This is achieved by using Y metal as the yttrium source in combination with an oxygen-containing plasma to form the Y2O3, coating in place of the using Y2O3 as the coating material source The disclosure is further directed to optics suitable for use in the infrared that have such coatings. The transmission spectrum of the coated substrate made according to the method described herein is greater than the transmission spectrum of the uncoated substrate over the wavelength range of 4 ?m to 12 ?m.

  • Publication number: 20130127121
Abstract: A locking collar to be inserted into a cylindrical cavity or lumen of a device for securing mechanical elements from moving axially within the cavity. The collar includes two semi-circular cylindrical segments hinged together with an opposed single slit to allow easy installation within the cavity and pushed into position against the installed elements without the need to disassemble a device. The collar is a substantially cylindrical rigid member with an outer diameter closely matching the inner bore diameter of the cavity and includes an opening at the slit to receive a securing screw member to urge the two segments apart to engage the inner bore surface of the cavity and fix the collar in place thereby locking the elements in place.
