A compression module within the codec then compresses the segments using the automatically-selected compression methods, after which an output module delivers the compressed segments to the destination system with an indication of which compression method was used to compress each segment.

Abstract: A multi-tiered approach to identifying digital content and acting upon the identification includes transmitting data from a device on which the content is stored or played to a first tier entity where the content and the device are identified. The first tier entity may use any one of many techniques for identifying the data and device. Once the identification data is determined, the information is transmitted to any one of multiple second tier entities that work in cooperation with the first tier entity. The second tier entities may then perform any desired functions based on the identification, such as providing offers, content, products and/or services to the device, or to other devices associated with the device or the device user. Abstract: A solar air heating module provides heated air to a ventilation system. The solar air heating module includes a collector for heating and drawing in outside air and a housing. The collector includes an absorber plate for absorbing incident sunlight and includes a plurality of perforations therethrough. The perforations are distributed across the absorber plate for allowing passage of air into the collector. The collector also includes a collector tray mounted behind the absorber plate. The collector tray includes an output for allowing the passage of air out of the collector. The collector tray is spaced from the absorber plate to define a cavity therebetween in which air can to flow towards the output. The housing is mounted to the collector tray and forms a plenum therewith for receiving air from the output. The plenum is at a lower pressure than that of the outside air. The plenum is connected to the ventilation system. A plurality of modules may be combined to form a system.

A cascade includes a cascade source volume and at least one cascade target volume, and a write to a storage location in one of the cascade volumes causes a copying of the storage location to be written in the cascade source volume to each of the cascade target volumes in the cascade according to a cascade order in which the at least one cascade target volume and the cascade source volume are linked in the cascade. The cascade is modified to include the target volume of the new backup in response to determining that there is an existing cascade, else a new cascade using the backup process of the new backup is created.

Abstract: An instrument for recording and replicating the spatial orientation of a dialable component of an implant relative to a bone engaging component of the implant includes a base assembly for supporting the bone engaging component and a fixture supported on the base assembly for supporting an alignment tool. The alignment tool is configured to engage a portion of the dialable component when the implant is supported by the base assembly. The fixture includes a locking assembly for locking the spatial position of the alignment tool relative to a pre-determined datum on a trial implant. The same instrument can be used to support a final implant and to replicate the spatial position of the alignment tool relative to the same datum on the final implant. The alignment tool can then be used to align the dialable component of the implant. The alignment tool can also constitute an impacting tool so that it can be used to impact the dialable component into locking engagement with the implant using the same instrument.

Abstract: A system and method of interlocking a plurality of electrical panel switches includes an interlock assembly having an interlock. The interlock has a first position that allows connection of one of utility power and power from an alternate power supply, such as a generator, to the electrical panel and prevents connection of the other of the utility power and alternate power. The interlock has a second position that allows connection of the other of the utility power and alternate power and prevents connection of one of the utility power and alternate power to the electrical panel. The interlock also is constructed to control the positioning and sequence of operation of neutral connections between the power supplies and the electrical panel.

Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for providing a database schema that links various system components and information to provide oversight and automated access control across disparate systems and applications. In one implementation, the database schema may use separate centralized tables to tie the various system components and information together. For example, one table may store information concerning technical support personnel authorized to address a given technical support incident, and another table may store information concerning approval given to do the technical support personnel to access a resource needed to provide the technical support, and the level of access needed to address provide technical support. Auxiliary tables may then be provided to support the centralized tables.
