  • Publication number: 20260061177
Abstract: A breakaway connector apparatus including a housing and a breakaway component is configured for attachment directly to a needle-free fitting on an intravenous line. The breakaway connector apparatus includes only one valve. The apparatus is configured to open both the valve and a seal on the needle-free fitting when the breakaway component is attached to the needle-free fitting. When tension is applied to the connector, the breakaway component is configured to detach from the apparatus while remaining attached to the needle-free fitting, thereby closing the valve on the apparatus and also closing the seal on the needle-free fitting. In some embodiments, the breakaway connector apparatus includes one or more securing arms and one or more corresponding securing bars to prevent re-connection of the apparatus following disengagement of the breakaway component from the apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20230149689
Abstract: A method of selecting a breakaway connector apparatus for attachment to a needle-free connector on an intravenous (IV) line is provided. The method includes providing a needle-free connector for attachment to a breakaway connector. The needle-free connector includes a push-out force associated with the needle-free connector. The method further includes identifying the push-out force imparted by the needle-free connector, and identifying a desired range of separation force associated with separating a first portion of the IV line from a second portion of the IV line. The method further includes selecting a breakaway connector device including a housing and a breakaway component that is configured to detach from the housing when a breakaway force is applied to the device, such that a sum of the breakaway force and the push-out force is within the desired range of separation force.

  • Publication number: 20120226319
Abstract: Systems, methods and devices for providing stabilization between first and second vertebrae are provided. More particularly, in one form a system includes an implant configured to be positioned in a disc space between the first and second vertebrae and a freestanding plate for engagement with extradiscal surfaces of the first and second vertebrae. The system also includes an insertion instrument with an engaging portion configured to releasably engage with the implant and the plate such that the implant and plate can be positioned together relative to the first and second vertebrae. In one aspect, an angular orientation of the implant relative to the plate is adjustable when the implant and the plate are engaged by the instrument. In this or another aspect, the implant and plate are held in a contiguous relationship when engaged by the instrument. However, different forms and applications are also envisioned.
