    Abstract: An insert for construction supports such as joist hangars and hurricane straps provides corrosion protection from chemicals and moisture in exterior construction lumber. The insert is a semi-rigid body having a shape that fits the construction support so that surfaces of the insert are disposed between the support and the construction lumber at joints in the construction. In the preferred embodiments, the inserts are made of a plastic material and provide a chemical, moisture and electrical barrier between the support and exterior lumber elements of a structure.
