  • Publication number: 20190026308
Abstract: Embodiments include techniques for metadata verification in a distributed file system, the technique including receiving an input for metadata, the metadata being associated with a file, and acquiring a function lock on a designated region of the file based at least in part on the metadata. The technique also includes hashing the input associated with the metadata into a designated region of the file, and updating the designated region corresponding to the input. The technique includes computing a checksum for the metadata associated with the designated region, updating a journal file based at least in part on the metadata, and releasing the function lock.

  • Publication number: 20180285380
Abstract: A lock manager configured for locking files is tested. As part of the test and based on a lock assignment plan, a process acquires locks on portions of the files. Based on a lock testing plan, a second process performs a lock verification for a portion of the locked portions. A result of this lock verification is compared to its expected result. Based on an updated lock assignment plan, the process transitions from the locks to other locks on other portions of the files. Based on an updated lock testing plan, the second process performs a second lock verification for a portion of the other locked portions. A result of this second lock verification is compared to its expected result. Based at least in part on the two comparisons, the lock manager is evaluated.

  • Patent number: 10025788
Abstract: Aspects include testing distributed file systems by selecting a file in a multiple writer environment and selecting an offset of a block in the file. Test data is generated for the block by randomly selecting a starting value from a plurality of possible starting values. A test header that includes the starting value and a test data sequence that starts with the starting value is created. A file system that is being tested writes the test header and the test data sequence to the block. Contents of the block are read by the file system that is being tested, and expected contents of the data sequence are determined based on contents of the read header. The expected contents of the data sequence are compared to the read data sequence and an error indication is output based on the expected contents not being equal to the read contents.

  • Patent number: 9879759
Abstract: The device is a precision motion right angle drive for use with linear and rotary stages which employs a combination of globoid worm and small diameter star gear. Coaxial with the star gear, on the same shaft, is a spur gear which drives the rotary stage gear or a linear rack. The thin star gear achieves meshing accuracy with the globoid worm permitting a large tooth angle for direct preloading without jamming. This gear combination eliminates backlash, allows a low gear ratio for low globoid worm speed, and enables the use of an ordinary spur gear to engage the stage gear without backdrive or backlash. Further, it allows for gear contact area to compensate for the thinness of the star gear. An embodiment including an integrated bearing rotary stage permits flexibility of application and avoidance of need for custom bearing designs by achieving high motion precision at low cost.

  • Patent number: 7714782
Abstract: In the context of array sensors such as radar, sonar, and communications receiver arrays, the present invention exploits the geometry phase components of radiated wavefronts associated with the signals of interest in order to reduce the bandwidth requirements for DOA and beamforming processing. Additionally, geometry phase is exploited in order to effectively increase the resolution of an array without changing the size of its physical footprint or the number of array elements. Other embodiments of the invention include the use of virtual array elements for increase in effective array size.

  • Publication number: 20040162534
Abstract: The present invention discloses a wrist- or forearm-mounted device for dispensing a small amount of alcohol-based disinfectant hand rub, moisturizer, or other hand medicament. Even powder-based hand treatments can be dispensed using the present invention. A wristband or other attachment means affix the device to arm or wrist. Various locations are feasible including the top, side, or underside of the wrist or forearm. One embodiment provides for a finger-mounted geometry. In a preferred embodiment, the device is in the form of a low profile, wrist-mounted dispenser with a nozzle that produces a small amount of dispensed skin treatment when actuated. In an advanced embodiment, the dispenser is of a pressure multiplying design that shoots a single “dose” of liquid under pressure when mildly actuated by the fingers of the hand.
