  • Patent number: 4515347
Abstract: A valve seat structure adapted to be positioned within each annular seat pocket (37, 36) which is formed about the flow passage (12, 13) adjacent the valve chamber on both the upstream and downstream sides of the gate element of a gate valve. The valve seat structure comprises a metallic seat ring (40) which fits snugly within the seat pocket (36, 37) but has an axial dimension which exceeds the depth of the pocket. The seat ring is formed with an annular notch (49, 50) in the outer corner of the ring at its rear face (48) for accommodating a resilient O-ring (66) therein. In its front face (47) the seat ring is provided with an annular groove (51) coaxial with the ring axis and provided with serrated side walls (51a, 51b). A plurality of passages (55) are formed in the ring with equiangular spacing and extend from the face groove (51) to the corner notch (49, 50).

  • Patent number: 4177998
Abstract: A packing assembly for a valve shaft or stem (8) consisting of inner and outer telescoping expander sleeves or rings (44, 46) slidably received intermediately in a stuffing box (32) between two groups of elastomeric sealing rings (F, G). Semi-fluid plastic sealing material is injected (60) between the expander rings to move them apart and thereby axially compress and radially expand the seal rings into sealing engagement with the stem or shaft and box wall. Portions of the plastic material pass through radial holes in the inner expander ring to form secondary seals within and about these rings.

  • Patent number: 4071041
Abstract: A spherical plug valve has an annular seat pocket in its body around a flow passageway. A seat ring is positioned in the seat pocket and includes inner and outer annular concentric seat members with a resilient seal ring secured between the concentric seat members. The concentric seat members are secured together by rivets after the seal ring is positioned therebetween. A separate resilient seat urging member in the seat pocket behind the seat ring urges the seal into engagement with the adjacent face of the spherical valve and includes a metal spring encapsulated in an elastomeric material.

  • Patent number: 3985097
Abstract: Apparatus and method for coating workpieces in a fluidized plastic bed in which the workpieces are heated to a predetermined high temperature, then suspended from their upper ends and lowered into a container having a fluidized plastic coating material therein. A fixed support frame over the container has a vertically movable support thereon for the workpieces and a vibrator mounted adjacent the lower end of the vertically movable support vibrates the workpieces at a predetermined rate while the workpieces are supported in a suspended relation within the fluidized plastic bed.
