  • Patent number: 4665834
Abstract: An intermodal apparatus for the rail transportation of containers with or without a highway chassis includes double axle rail bogies having a lower bogie frame and an upper platform section. The upper platform section includes a pair of connecting plates each having locking clamps for clamping to openings in the bottom corner castings on the front and rear ends of the container. A pair of spaced elongated push pull bars extend between two rail bogies adjacent the longitudinal sides of the container. The bars absorb the longitudinal forces exerted on the bogies as the trailers are transported along the rails to prevent the forces from being exerted on the trailers. The upper platform section includes a lifting mechanism for raising and lowering a container chassis combination.

  • Patent number: 4637763
Abstract: Fixtures supportable in a containerized unit for compartmentalizing the container into predetermined areas for storage and shipment of non-stackable articles at one or more levels within the container. A series of vertical support hangers are releasably connected to a longitudinally-extending horizontal top ledge within the container at opposite sides at predetermined spaced longitudinal intervals such that all the vertical load is supported by the ledge. Each of the vertical support hangers is provided with a releasable ledge-engaging C-clamp for gripping the ledge and a series of vertically-spaced pairs of slots for supporting horizontal support beams at predetermined levels by opposite vertical support hangers. Beam supporting connectors are positioned to support planar decking on the horizontal support beams at predetermined levels for compartmentalizing the interior of the container depending upon the article to be stored and shipped.

  • Patent number: 4611961
Abstract: A harness for securing a vehicle wheel to a support structure, and a method for mounting a harness on a wheel. The harness comprises loop, hook and lashing straps having connected first ends, and a pair of cross straps extending between the loop and hook straps. To mount the harness on a wheel, the cross straps are placed on a vertically extending surface thereof, the hook strap is wrapped across that vertically extending surface and along an inside face of the wheel, and the loop strap is wrapped over a top surface thereof and along the inside face of the wheel. The hook strap is slipped through a loop on the loop strap, wrapped around the lashing strap, and connected to the loop strap. The lashing strap is connected to the support structure to secure the harness and the wheel thereto.

  • Patent number: 4485956
Abstract: An improved nailing tool for supporting and driving a nail in which an elongated tubular guide sleeve member has means at one end for releasably retaining a nail to be driven and a hand grip at the opposite end. The nail driving rod is axially slidable in an elongated tubular guide sleeve member in which the lower end engages the nail retaining means and the upper end extends beyond the hand grip with the nail retaining means having an anvil in which there is an axial bore for cooperatively receiving a nail head therein with the anvil having a substantially planar driving rod impact surface on the face of the anvil opposite from the bore. Means are included in the axial bore for releasably engaging a nail head upon axial displacement of the nail driving rod in the guide sleeve member.

  • Patent number: 4371298
Abstract: A knockdown disposable vehicle ramp for shipment of vehicles securely fastened to the floor of container to elevate and support one end of a wheeled vehicle in nesting alignment with another wheeled vehicle whereby a series of in-line vehicles may be positioned within a single container for shipment with each of the disposable ramps being secured in position during vehicle loading. Each of the disposable ramps is constructed of corrugated fiberboard and positioned to support the loads to which the ramp may be subjected with each ramp being provided with an inclined plane on which the wheel of a vehicle may be elevated for positioning to a wheel well on the ramp for cooperatively supporting a wheel mounted on the vehicle. Ramp and wheel well reinforcing means are positioned to support loads to which the ramp is subjected. A wheel-mounted harness securely retains the vehicle-mounted wheel on the ramp wheel well limiting vehicle displacement.
