  • Patent number: 11912937
Abstract: A process for treating a subterranean earth formation includes the step of introducing an acidizing treatment fluid comprising a monovalent salt of monochloroacetic acid into the subterranean earth formation in the presence of at least one bromide or iodide salt or salt precursor, wherein the at least one bromide or iodide salt or salt precursor is introduced into the subterranean earth formation in an amount of from about 0.3 to about 10 wt %, based on the total weight of the acidizing treatment fluid. The acidizing treatment fluid itself includes the monovalent salt of monochloroacetic acid, the at least one bromide or iodide salt or salt precursor, and optionally an element to suppress precipitation of calcium glycolate and/or at least one acid.

  • Publication number: 20230220271
Abstract: The disclosure is directed to a process for treating a subterranean earth formation by introducing an acidizing treatment fluid comprising a monovalent salt of monochloroacetic acid into said subterranean earth formation in the presence of at least one bromide or iodide salt or salt precursor, wherein the at least one bromide or iodide salt or salt precursor is introduced into the subterranean earth formation in an amount of from about 0.3 to about 10 wt %, based on the total weight of the acidizing treatment fluid. It also pertains to an acidizing treatment fluid comprising a monovalent salt of monochloroacetic acid, at least one bromide or iodide salt or salt precursor and optionally an element to suppress precipitation of calcium glycolate and/or at least one acid.

  • Patent number: 9505694
Abstract: The present invention pertains to a process for the purification of a substantially water-free liquid feed comprising monochloroacetic acid, dichloroacetic acid, optionally acid chlorides, optionally anhydrides, and optionally acetic acid, which comprises the steps of (a) adding water to the liquid feed so that a liquid feed is obtained comprising between 0.01 and 5% by weight of water, based on the total weight of the liquid feed, and (b) subsequently subjecting the liquid feed obtained in step (a) to a catalytic hydrodechlorination step by contacting it with a source of hydrogen to convert the dichloroacetic acid into monochloroacetic acid in the presence of a solid heterogeneous hydrogenation catalyst comprising one or more metals of Group VIII of the Periodic Table of the Elements deposited on a carrier.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 17, 2012
Date of Patent: November 29, 2016
Assignee: Akzo Nobel Chemicals International B.V.
Inventors: Melle Rinze Nieuwhof, Cornelis Kooijman, Willem Koelewijn, Hendrik Jan Vos, Lars Magnus Tollin, Henricus Johannes Marinus Petrus Van Hal

  • Patent number: 7918987
Abstract: The present invention provides a process to prepare a halogenated carbonyl group-containing compound by electrochemically reacting the corresponding carbonyl group-containing compound with a hydrogen halide H—X, an organic halide R?—X and/or a halide salt Mn+—Xn? under substantially water-free conditions, wherein X is a chlorine, bromine or iodine atom, R? is an alkyl or aryl group that may be linear or branched, optionally containing one or more heteroatoms such as oxygen, nitrogen, chloride, bromide, fluoride or iodide of which the halogen atom X can be electrochemically split off, Mn+ is a quaternary ammonium, alkaline earth metal, alkali metal or metal cation, and n is an integer of 1 to 5, depending on the valency of the metal cation Mn+.
