  • Patent number: 5265333
Abstract: The specification discloses a method of forming a self sustained cladding panel 10 for use in a cladding panel system for a building using a resilient metal or metal alloy sheet material. The panels have a central visible portion 12 and longitudinally extending side edges 14, 16. The central visible portion has, in its relaxed state, a shape which is significantly different from the intended final shape and the panel is subsequently formed so that its central visible portion is resiliently formed into the final shape, with a resilient deformation taking place within the elastic range of the sheet material. The panel is then retained in this final shape by interconnecting the longitudinally extending side edges 14, 16 either continuously or by spaced elements such as clips.

  • Patent number: 4884383
Abstract: An adapter for use with a support grid for ceiling elements. In particular the adapter mounts on a horizontal bottom portion of an inverted T-shaped support. The adapter has a first flange forming a C-shaped clip. A plurality of such flanges are spaced along the adapter length so they do not interfere with cross support members. Holding flange portions support the celing elements. Additionally, further flange portions are provided to prevent transverse movement of the adapter relative to the support. The further flange portions are also spaced to prevent interference with cross supports.

  • Patent number: 4706433
Abstract: Suspended ceiling assembly includes a plurality of supporting members 14 which carry panels of the ceiling, the members 14 being longitudinally slidable along a beam having a web 11 and side flanges 12 terminating in rims 13. The mutual spacing between the supporting members 14 is determined by distance members (not shown) and the supporting members 14 are arranged in groups, the end ones of the groups being held in place by clips 37 having a projection 40 engaged in an aperture 41 in the web of the channel to hold the members of the group in position. When the clips are removed, the panels can be pulled back, to gain access to the space thereabove.

  • Patent number: 4671041
Abstract: A panelling system and carrier therefor for covering a wall or ceiling in which the panels have inturned side portions on each side, one of which is turned towards the other side and then back towards the main panel to provide a rim. The other side portion has at its free edge, an arm turned away from the one side. The panels are supported by inverted U- or V-shaped cross-section carriers formed with notches which define hook shaped lugs. These lugs are inserted into the rims of the panels and the arms of the adjacent panels overlie these rims. A space is provided above the thus mounted arms so that the arms can be lifted thereby to allow the underlying rim to be disengaged for the removal of a panel.

  • Patent number: 4441297
Abstract: A carrier for supporting panelling, the panels of which each have a main panel portion which has inturned side portions on each of two opposite sides, and one side portion has, at its free edge, a rim turned towards the other side portion while the other side portion has at its free edge an arm turned away from the one side portion. The carrier is in the form of an L- or T-shaped body or a body with a central U- or V-shaped cross-section with the body having at least one body portion. A plurality of pairs of lugs are provided on each body portion, the pairs of lugs being longitudinally spaced from one another and the lugs of a pair being laterally spaced and of two types. The first type is substantially rigid and includes a tongue spaced from a surface of the body portion to accommodate the rim of one panel and the arm of an adjacent panel and the second type of lug is mounted on the body portion to hold the arm and rim of two adjacent panels against the tongue of the first type of lug.

  • Patent number: 4308706
Abstract: A beam for supporting elongated panels from a fixed structure to provide a wall or a ceiling finish is disclosed having a generally U-shape, as shown in FIG. 2, with outwardly extending flanges (2) and downwardly extending mushroom-shaped connector lugs (3). Lugs (3) are cut from the material of the flange mid-way of the width of the flange (2) and said lugs are no greater in width than one-half the width of the flange (2).

  • Patent number: 4297822
Abstract: A suspended ceiling is disclosed having a plurality of spaced parallel elongated supports (14) suspended from permanent overhead structure. A plurality of panels (12) provide the ceiling face and are supported from the elongated supports (14) by means of holders (10). The holders (10) themselves are secured to the supports (14) by bent over lugs (20) passing through openings (40) in the support (14). Opposite edges of each panel (12) have support flanges (46,50) complementary to each other with one flange (46) being bent inwardly and downwardly (48) with respect to the panel (12) and the other flange (50) having a support portion (52) extending outwardly of the panel. The holders (10) have hook-like elements (26) which engage the inwardly and downwardly bent flanges (48) with the outwardly extending flanges (52) resting on top thereof.

  • Patent number: 4236366
Abstract: A prefabricated wall panel is disclosed having an insulating core (10) and an outer facing sheet (11) on each side thereof. Along one lateral side edge the facing sheets are spaced from the core material (10) which core material extends as a lateral projection (13) along the one edge. Along the opposite lateral edge of the wall panel a connecting member (15) is provided having a pair of outer laterally extending tongues (14, 14) about each of which is wrapped the adjacent edge of the adjacent facing sheet (11). A pair of inner tongues (19, 19) also extend laterally from the panel and spaced from the outer tongues (14, 14) to which they are connected by narrow webs (18, 18). A broader web (16) extends between the inner tongues. When assembled the free edges (12, 12) of the facing sheets (11, 11) extend into the spaces (21, 21) between the outer (14, 14) and inner (19, 19) outwardly extending tongues and the projection (13) of the core (10) extends into the space between the inner tongues (19, 19).
