  • Publication number: 20070209206
Abstract: The invention relates to a shaving head (5) comprising at least two bladeshaped cutting members (7, 7?, 7?) each having a straight cutting edge (9, 9?, 9?) extending parallel to a longitudinal direction (Y) of the shaving head. Each cutting member is supported in a cartridge (11) of the shaving head by means of a supporting member (17) which supports the respective cutting member in a supported area (23) on the respective cutting member. Said supported area extends over a predetermined distance (D) perpendicular to the longitudinal direction. Each supporting member has a first portion (25) in contact with the supported area at a location remote from the cutting edge of the respective cutting member and a second portion (27) in contact with the supported area at a location near the cutting edge of the respective cutting member. The first portion has a basic cross-sectional area, seen perpendicularly to the longitudinal direction, and the second portion has a reduced cross-sectional area.

  • Publication number: 20050252005
Abstract: The invention relates to a device (1) for shaving hair (93) and to a shaving head (9) used therein. The shaving head (9) has at least one cutting member (17, 19) having a cutting edge (23) and a cutting direction (X), and the device has an actuator (29) for effecting a periodical motion of said cutting member relative to a base portion (3) of the device. According to the invention said periodical motion is effected in an imaginary plane which extends transversely to the cutting edge (23) and which has a first motion portion (89) and a second motion portion (91) following the first motion portion. The first motion portion is mainly directed in the cutting direction (X), and the second motion portion is mainly directed opposite to the cutting direction and is closer to the skin (93) than the first motion portion. Said periodical motion results in a reduced risk of skin irritations and skin injuries and provides a smooth shaving result.

  • Patent number: 6312436
Abstract: The depilation system comprises an electric depilation apparatus and a cartridge. The depilation apparatus comprises a depilation head, a drive unit, and a chamber adapted to accommodate the cartridge. The cartridge comprises a reservoir for holding a substance, a discharge channel, and a pump. The chamber extends between the depilation head and the drive unit. The depilation head is movable with respect to the depilation apparatus in such a manner that the chamber is accessible. In order to enable the pump to be actuated, the depilation apparatus comprises an actuator which extends into the chamber. A mechanism couples the actuator to a button at the exterior of the depilation apparatus in such a manner that the actuator can be driven by moving the button.

  • Patent number: 6131288
Abstract: The system comprises, for example, an electric shaver (1) and a cartridge (2) mounted in a chamber (12) of the shaver (1). The shaver (1) comprises a shaving head (3) having drivable cutters (31) and an electric motor (11) for driving the cutters (31) via a coupling pin (14). The cartridge (2) comprises a reservoir (25) for holding an auxiliary fluid. This auxiliary fluid may, for example, serve to reduce the friction between the shaving head (3) and the skin of a user. The cartridge (2) has an outlet channel (22) and a diaphragm pump (23) for feeding the auxiliary fluid from the reservoir (21) to the outlet channel (22). For the actuation of the diaphragm pump (23) the shaver (1) comprises a button (15) and a lever (17) which is pivotable about a pivot (18). When the button (15) is pressed the diaphragm pump (23) is actuated and a small amount of the auxiliary fluid is applied to the skin of a user via an outlet opening (32).

  • Patent number: 6039301
Abstract: A container has a wall which defines a space for holding a fluid and a sealing device connected to the wall. The sealing device comprises a coupling member having a seat and a channel which gives access to the space. The sealing device further comprises a valve, which has been formed separately from the coupling member and which is movable with respect to the coupling member in a first direction parallel to the channel from on open position, in which the channel is open, to a closed position, in which the valve cooperates with the seat and the channel is closed. The sealing device has two arms which position the valve in its open position and which support the valve in the first direction (5). The arms are separate from the seat and in its open position the valve (20) is clear of the seat. In this way a reliable sealing is achieved.
