  • Publication number: 20090121829
Abstract: An access system includes a portable pouch and an access unit. The pouch has an inserted electronic card, a card receive module and a send/receive module. The access unit is assigned to a transit region of the zone and has a send/receive unit for a communication with the send/receive module of the pouch. To provide access, the tag is transmitted to the send/receive unit of the access unit when the pouch is within range of the send/receive unit. If the tag received by the send/receive unit matches a stored tag, an unblocking signal for providing access to the zone is generated. A signal detector of the pouch detects an electromagnetic field generated by a send unit arranged in the transit region, and information transmitted by the electromagnetic field is processed. A bidirectional communication between the send/receive unit of the access unit and the send/receive module of the pouch is initiated.

  • Publication number: 20090039156
Abstract: Current electronic cards, such as, for example, proximity cards, smartcards for short, can transmit data to a reader unit over a range of up to about 10 cm. Boosters are used to improve convenience which in essence represent a wireless extension. This is however not adequate with regards to autonomy, function (as a result of termination) and for the differing applications. A method is disclosed in which the transmission of service-specific codes, stored on a number of different smartcards, to a portable device is carried out. The portable device then transmits one or more of the codes via several different communication connections so that access to a service can be activated. By providing services to the corresponding authorized communication connection a modular system is achieved, permitting multiple access for a user to services.

  • Patent number: 7143049
Abstract: A method and a system for registering tickets includes defining a waking zone with a transceiver unit having a transmitting unit, defining a registration zone with a registration transceiver unit, providing tickets having a processor, a memory, a ticket receiver, and a ticket transceiver for communicating between the waking zone and the tickets, transmitting a first information unit from the transmitting unit to the ticket receiver of a ticket located in the waking zone, activating the ticket transceiver of the ticket located in the waking zone with an item of information contained in the first information unit, at a beginning of ticket registration, setting up a bi-directional communication between the registration transceiver unit and a ticket transceiver of a ticket located in the registration zone through additional information units, and registering ticket presence to establish a service to be used or a defined presence.

  • Publication number: 20030072325
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for managing collisions in a wireless detection system, wherein a plurality of portable receivers and at least one transmitter/receiver unit mounted on a vehicle are provided. Communication is of the intermittent type due to an on/off cycle. Sent call messages are first confirmed by a quittance device associated with the detection zone by means of a quittance report. The receivers respond to a received call message with an availability message that identifies the respective receiver. Before a message is sent, it is checked whether the radio medium is available. Collisions that occur are recognized by the absence of the quittance report. Communication is resumed by sending further messages at fixed intervals or at intervals that are determined by a random number generator. The inventive method provides for a complete detection of the portable receivers even when the ranges of detection overlap. The on/off cycle can be adaptively adjusted.
