  • Patent number: 5439671
Abstract: Process for the production of a neutral-tasting paste of an alkyl ether sulfate in glycerol, comprising the steps of:A) forming an aqueous paste of at least one alkyl ether sulfate wherein the aqueous paste contains from about 25 to about 75% by weight of alkyl ether sulfate;B) adding glycerol to the aqueous paste from step A) in from about 1 to about 4 times the quantity by weight of the aqueous paste;C) distilling off substantially all of the water present in the mixture resulting from step B) to produce a substantially ambydrous paste; andD) passing steam heated to a temperature above 100.degree. C. through skid paste with intensive whirling of the paste and steam phases.

  • Patent number: 5362479
Abstract: Oral hygiene and dental care compositions which contain an alkyl ether sulfate mixture corresponding to formula IR.sup.1 --O--(C.sub.2 H.sub.4 O).sub.x --SO.sub.3 M (I)in which R.sup.1 is a linear alkyl group containing 12 to 18 carbon atoms, M is an alkali metal or magnesium ion, and x has an average value of 2 to 10, and wherein at least 50% by weight of the mixture consists of homologs with x-1 to x+1 glycol ether groups, and the content of alkyl sulfates in which x=0 is below 10% by weight. The invention also relates to dry powders containing the above alkyl ether sulfate mixture.

  • Patent number: 4876035
Abstract: Clear, aqueous liquid preparations of sodium lauryl sulfate and myristyl sulfate comprising from 5 to 20% by weight of sodium lauryl sulfate and/or myristyl sulfate, from 10 to 30% by weight of a nonionic surface-active ethylene oxide adduct having an HLB-value of from 12 to 18, from 10 to 20% by weight of a polyol containing from 3 to 6 carbon atoms and from 2 to 6 hydroxyl gropus or a polyethylene glycol, and from 30 to 75% by weight of water, are distinguished by low cloud points and are suitable for use as a surfactant component in the production of oral hygiene products such as toothpastes.

  • Patent number: 4871777
Abstract: A composition for suppository bases consisting of a water-insoluble fat and an adduct of 5 to 50 mol ethylene oxide with 1 mol hardened castor oil as emulsifier enables suppositories containing aqueous active-principle solutions to be prepared. The emulsifier is preferably present in a quantity of 0.2 to 10% by weight. Suppositories containing up to 30% by weight water dispersed therein can be prepared using the above composition.

  • Patent number: 4113642
Abstract: A high viscosity neutral complex polyester lubricant reaction product produced by esterifying a mixture of(a) branched alkanepolyols having 2 to 4 primary hydroxyls and 4 to 10 carbon atoms,(b) polyacids selected from the group consisting of dimeric fatty acids and trimeric fatty acids derived by polymerization of unsaturated fatty acids having 16 to 18 carbon atoms,(c) alkanoic acids having 6 to 16 carbon atoms,The acid number of said polyester being 0.3 or below and the hydroxyl number of said polyester being below 0.5, the proportion of hydroxyl groups esterified by said alkanoic acids being from 50% to 90%. The said complex polyester lubricant having a low pour point, a high viscosity and a high viscosity index.
