  • Patent number: 4123235
Abstract: A process for separating carbon black from a liquid containing it is disclosed wherein a particular amount of an oxygen containing higher boiling product which is the non-volatile residue produced as a by-product of the oxo-synthesis is added to the liquid whereby the carbon black passes into the higher boilng product phase to form an admixture. The admixture is passed to a settling zone where it separates from the liquid. Separation of the carbon black then takes place through the use of a disk centrifuge.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: October 31, 1978
    Assignee: Ruhrchemie Aktiengesellschaft

  • Patent number: 4107036
Abstract: A process for the separation of carbon black from liquids containing it is disclosed wherein a particular amount of a liquid hydrocarbon is added to the liquid containing carbon black to form a mixture whereby the carbon black passes into the hydrocarbon phase. The mixture is then passed to a settling zone and the hydrocarbon and carbon black are separated from the liquid by forming a layer thereon. The layer is then passed through a disk centrifuge to substantially separate the carbon black from the hydrocarbon.

  • Patent number: 3953332
Abstract: An improvement in a process for separating waste water from a water insoluble organic liquid which is lighter than water and a water insoluble solid which is heavier than water wherein said waste water, organic liquid and solids are introduced into an introduction zone of a gravity separator, thereafter passed through a separation zone of said separator and a water phase is removed from said separator, which improvement comprises a higher purity of waste water by avoiding diminuation of the temperature of the components in said separation zone below the temperature of the waste water at the entrance of the separator by adjusting the temperature in the introduction zone to prevent flocculation of solids in said separation zone.
