  • Patent number: 5298049
Abstract: A trough system for the delivery of a gob of molten glass from a gob distributor to a parison mould cavity in a glassware forming machine comprises a trough assembly comprising an upwardly facing inclined trough which is arranged to receive a gob from a scoop of the gob distributor and a downwardly facing deflector which deflects a gob which has travelled down the trough into a vertical path to fall into the parison mould cavity. The deflector and the trough are mounted on a hanger which is supported in a frame member of the machine by a universal joint adjustable about three perpendicular axes. Consequently adjustment of the position of the deflector may be made without causing misalignment of the deflector and the trough.

  • Patent number: 4063504
Abstract: In an intaglio printing press where the impression cylinder is provided with two journals for mounting it in the frame of the press, the journals being operatively connected to respective screw-threaded spindles which are adjustable in unison or independently, apparatus for applying and withdrawing the impression cylinder to and from the plate cylinder comprises first and second rotatable nuts mounted on each spindle, the two nuts on each spindle being coupled for co-rotation. A hand wheel is operatively connected to said first nut to apply same to a respective abutment surface that is fixed with respect to the frame. A piston-cylinder unit is operatively connected to each said second nut to lift and lower same, the psiton-cylinder unit being supplied with pressure medium through independent fine control valves.

  • Patent number: 3969826
Abstract: In a multi-color rotary printing press equipped with a plate cylinder at each of a plurality of printing stations where a web is to be printed, the rotary positions of the plate cylinders are pre-adjusted to achieve registry of the printing applied at each printing station by setting all the plate cylinders to a respective zero rotary reference position relatively to a frame of the press and then turning each of the second and subsequent plate cylinders out of their zero positions through a respective angle subtended by an arc length calculated by dividing the web length between the first printing station and that at which adjustment is being effected by the circumference of the plate cylinder and subtracting from this quotient the nearest whole number below the quotient.
