  • Patent number: 5624099
Abstract: An elastic mounting apparatus for vibration-decoupled mounting of a turbocharger housing on an internal combustion engine. The mounting apparatus includes a clamping element with two spring elements arranged in a functionally serial relationship. The clamping element joins the housing and the internal combustion engine so as to allow relative vibration between the two. The first spring element includes an annular spring member made of elastomeric material and a second spring element formed by at least one disk spring. The clamping element is penetrated by a clamping screw, and the disk spring can be compressed by the clamping screw in such a way that its spring rate, after compression to the intended preload, is substantially zero. The housing is configured as a turbocharger housing with at least one intake pipe. The intake pipe is braced in a vibration-decoupled and sealing manner on the cylinder head of the internal combustion engine by a sealing element made of an elastomeric material.

  • Patent number: 5540419
Abstract: An elastic bearing includes a support and a thrust bearing. Each is provided with a fastening element and each are braced against each other by at least one elastic spring element of an elastomeric material and at least one damping device. The support includes a supporting body made of a tough material, which extends essentially transverse to the direction of the introduced vibrations. The thrust bearing includes a drum-shaped housing which essentially encloses the supporting body on all sides. The supporting body is adjoined by at least one ring-shaped damping element made of an elastomeric material which, under static preloading of the bearing, abuts on the front-side inner surfaces of the housing in a substantially stress-free manner. In the cylindrical recess of the damping element at least one elastic spring element is arranged axially on both sides of the supporting body.

  • Patent number: 5492311
Abstract: An active positioning element for a rubber mount, including a space surrounded by a housing, a positioning member and a working member which is designed as a spring element arranged within the space. The positioning member and the working member are movable back and forth in the direction of oscillations introduced into the rubber mount, and the positioning member is sealed in the housing. The positioning member is formed by a gas pressure spring which can be acted on by gas under pressure, the gas pressure spring comprising at least one piston-cylinder unit which has a roller membrane for sealing the piston off from the housing. The spring element is formed by a compression spring which, in the direction of the oscillations introduced, rests under elastic initial stress, on one side against the positioning member and on another side against the support bearing of the rubber mount.

  • Patent number: 4982937
Abstract: A gas-operated spring for the mutual support of two oscillating elements moving relative to one another, for which sensor-controlled (9, 10) first and second devices (1, 2) are provided, which bring about the blowing out of excess compressed gas from the gas-operated spring or the feeding in of additional compressed gas into the gas-operated spring (11) through the activation of valves (3, 4, 5). To prevent a mutual impairment of function, the first device (1) is active only for pressure changes of a frequency above a threshold value and the second device (2) only for changes in the mutual correspondence of the two elements (7, 8), which have a frequency below the threshold value.

  • Patent number: 4761020
Abstract: An air spring, for suspension of a vibrating body on a base, comprising a bellows with an air-filled interior which can be connected as needed by a control valve to a compressed-gas reservoir or to the atmosphere. The control valve is actuated by a piston whose front face is acted upon by the internal pressure of the air spring bellows and whose rear face is acted upon by a gas cushion of variable pressure contained in a pressure chamber, and which produces a compensation of vibration-caused pressure changes in the bellows by feeding additional compressed air in or letting compressed air out. The pressure chamber is provided with a signal-operated inlet valve and a signal-operated outlet valve, and these valves are electrically connected to the signal transmitter of a displacement detector.

  • Patent number: 4732077
Abstract: A pressure controller for an air spring having a gas-filled, variable interior space for spring action between relatively-vibrating bodies has interconnected intake and outlet valve stems for opposite valve action and an actuating piston responsive to the gas pressure in the variable interior space and an oppositely-acting compression spring for moving the valve stems. High pressure in the variable interior space opens the outlet valve to vent the variable interior space to the atmosphere and low pressure in the variable interior space opens the inlet valve to supply compressed gas to the variable interior space from a reservoir.

  • Patent number: 4678203
Abstract: An air spring has a variable interior space at a gas pressure for spring action between relatively-vibrating bodies. A control device has a sensor electrically responsive to the gas pressure for electrically operating an intake valve for admitting gas to the interior space and an outlet valve for venting gas from the interior space to atmosphere. This damps or isolates vibrations in the air spring in dependence on the control device. The control device may also respond to auxiliary transducers for the gas pressure, spring height, and level, speed, steering, braking, or acceleration of a vehicle on which the air spring is used, for example.
