  • Patent number: 5269473
Abstract: A stand for a shredder has its frame members fully accommodated in recesses open to the rear of a paper collector so that the stand is not visible from the front or sides. The paper shredder-cutter unit is mounted on the stand only so that the collector can be removed and does not have a supporting function. The appearance of the integrated assembly of paper shredder, collector and stand is similar to that of a cabinet-type paper shredder.

  • Patent number: 5243371
Abstract: An arm carrying the projection head of an overhead projector is swingable mounted on a pivot body received in a guide at one side of the housing of an overhead projector so that the entire pivot can drop into this guide in the operative upright position of the arm. In that position, the segment of the arm adjacent the pivot is locked by the guide in its upright position.

  • Patent number: 5230477
Abstract: A knife shaft stripping device is described, in which the stripping fingers (5) are made of plastic and are injection molded in one piece either with a housing top (7) or with a housing bottom (8), and in which supporting stays (6) are associated with the stripping fingers (5), which likewise are made of plastic and injection molded in one piece with the mating housing bottom (8) or housing top (7). Bearing surfaces (12) for the knife shafts (3) are also disposed in the housing top (7) and in the housing bottom (8), and the stripping fingers (5) and supporting stays (6) are provided with abutment surfaces (9, 10) which contact one another when the cutting mechanism (2) is assembled such that the stripping fingers (5) are supported.

  • Patent number: 5167374
Abstract: A piston-and-cylinder retarder delays the switch opening of a switch actuated by a sensor in the path of paper introduced through the paper-feed shaft or chute of a paper shredder, thereby eliminating the need for more expensive and complex electronic time-delay systems to ensure that the shredding unit remains switched on until the trailing edge of the paper passes it.

  • Patent number: 5135178
Abstract: A knife shaft assembly (1) for a document shredder formed from a series of cutting disks (3) arranged on a shaft (2) with spacer rings (4) disposed between them. The spacer rings (4) are compressible, and a securing mechanism, such as snap rings (6) received in grooves (5), is provided on the shaft to secure the cutting disks (3) on the shaft (2) under compression. During assembly, the spaces between the cutting disks (3) are adjusted to a predetermined size by compression in the axial direction. This arrangement enables material costs to be kept low while assuring high dimensional accuracy of the knife shaft assembly.

  • Patent number: 5020733
Abstract: The invention is characterized in that at least one tray for the stack(s) of paper is arranged on the top of the document shredder. As a result, the document shredder requires a smaller installation area. Futhermore, the stability of the document shredder is improved. Since the stacks of paper are positioned at working height, the document shredder is extremely convenient to operate. The design according to the invention also allows a cost saving.

  • Patent number: 4699329
Abstract: An arrangement for rolling up and unrolling of material webs, particularly carpets, has a driving drum which is rotatable about its longitudinal axis and is supported displaceably horizontally displaceable in direction toward a rod for receiving an unrolling carpet and extending parallel to the driving drum with adjustable height. The drive of the roll of the carpet arranged on the rod is performed frictionally over the outer surface of the driving drum. By means of a single drive the driving drum is driven in rotation about its longitudinal axis and also applies the pressing force required for the frictional engagement with the carpet roll. For this purpose the drive is connected, on the one hand, directly with a chain wheel which rotates the driving drum about its longitudinal axis, and via a sliding coupling with further chain wheels which engage with stationarily clamped chains and thereby allow a horizontal displacement of the driving drum.

  • Patent number: 4195410
Abstract: A device for measuring the length of a web, such as a floor covering or the like, in which the web is movable in longitudinal direction over a support surface, and in which the device includes a measuring roller or wheel adapted to be coupled with a measuring mechanism. The measuring wheel is arranged opposite the rear face of the web, turnable about an axis extending normal to the direction of movement of the web, and pressure means, rotatable about an axis parallel to that of the measuring wheel, engage the other side of the web for pressing the latter toward the peripheral surface of the measuring wheel. At least one opening in the support surface is arranged opposite the pressure means.

  • Patent number: 4131046
Abstract: An apparatus for cutting a web has a support with an upper flat surface formed with an elongated slot that extends in a cutting direction. An elongated guide is parallel to and above the support surface and extends in a direction perpendicular to the direction of displacement of a web across the surface. This guide is limitedly vertically displaceable relative to the support surface and a carriage is longitudinally displaceable along the guide by means of rollers. A wheel is journalled in the carriage for rotation about an axis perpendicular to the cutting direction and has a periphery centered on the axis and engageable through a web workpiece with the surface so as to support the wheel, carriage and guide with their weight on the support surface.
