  • Patent number: 8509033
Abstract: A marine air gun generates an acoustic signal in water, for example, during a marine seismic survey. The marine air gun includes digital electronic circuitry. The digital electronic circuitry may control an actuator of the marine air gun, digitize and store data from sensors located on or near the marine air gun, send and/or receive digital communications, store and/or output electrical energy, and/or perform other functions. A marine seismic source system that includes multiple air gun clusters may have a separate digital communication link between a command center and each air gun cluster. Each communication link may provide power and digital communication between the command center and one of the air gun clusters.

  • Patent number: 8307429
Abstract: A method of determining that protected software is running in a virtualized environment includes obtaining a set of baseline measurements of system call timings in native operating system environments. Statistical thresholds are established based on the baseline measurements such that there is a predetermined probability that protected software running in a native environment will experience system call durations that exceed the thresholds. The protected software is analyzed and instructions are incorporated within the software such that particular system calls, demonstrated to be differentiating using the set of baseline measurements and the threshold analysis, are executed during the normal running of the protected software. The incorporated instructions are used to estimate the parameter values that are to be compared with the established statistical thresholds.

  • Patent number: 8292555
Abstract: This invention has to do with a rotary twist drill of the type having a fluted cylindrical shank with a drill bit end having at least two cutting edges extending radially outwardly from the longitudinal axis of the drill. Cutting edges are formed by the intersection of the flutes with the drill point end and extend radially outwardly from the center of the drill body to the outer perimeter of the drill body. Gashes formed on the drill point end form innermost cutting edge portions which are symmetrical with one another about a point offset both horizontally and vertically from the axial centerline of the drill body so as to allow a positive cutting action at the centerline of the material to be removed.

  • Publication number: 20120223179
Abstract: An improved pay-off assembly allowing cable loaded on a cable reel to be transported to an installation site and/or paid-off during a cable pull is described. The pay-off assembly may include one or more of lateral support braces that provide stability and strength to an A-frame structure supporting the cable reel; a reel lock assembly for securely holding the cable reel in place during transport and/or pay-off of the cable; an end cap assembly that prevents detachment from an arbor as the arbor and cable reel rotate during pay-off; a dog hole stop assembly that engages a “dog hole” in the cable reel to prevent the cable reel from rotating during transport; a braking system for controlling the rotational speed of the cable reel during pay-off; and a ground attachment assembly that allows an additional cable reel to be loaded for transport and/or pay-off of the cable.
