Publication number: 20060136982Abstract: Triggers for interactive television display are incorporated into a video stream in coordination with graphics associated with the triggers. Graphic sources such as channels (16, 18) of a character generator (21) supply graphics associated with the triggers to graphic signal inputs (26, 28) of a switch. When a channel supplies a graphic, a message denoting the associated trigger and associating the trigger with the channel is forwarded to a gateway computer (60). The gateway computer monitors connections between graphic signal inputs (26, 28) and the video output (32) of the switch, and forwards triggers associated with a particular channel to an inserter (40) only if such channel is connected to output (32).Type: ApplicationFiled: December 23, 2005Publication date: June 22, 2006Applicant: Chyron CorporationInventors: James Martinolich, James Altemose, William Byrne, William Hendler

Patent number: 5350114Abstract: A diesel heater includes a combustion chamber and a fuel pump for pumping diesel fuel to the combustion chamber. An air supply device supplies combustion air to the combustion chamber. An igniter ignites the diesel fuel to generate combustion heat. A heat exchange fluid supplying device supplies fluid in heat exchange relationship with the combustion heat. A thermal sensor in contact with the heat exchange fluid generates a temperature signal related to the temperature of the heat exchange fluid. A flame detector detects an ignited diesel fuel flame and generates a flame signal in response thereto. A microprocessor includes a memory and a plurality of input/output ports wherein the input/output ports are electrically connected to the thermal sensor, the fuel pump, the heat transfer fluid supplying device, the igniter, the combustion air supply device, and the flame detector. The memory stores a normal operating sequence, a start-up sequence, and a tail start period for the start-up sequence.Type: GrantFiled: July 21, 1993Date of Patent: September 27, 1994Assignee: The Budd CompanyInventors: Kirk A. Patent number: 5092313Abstract: A gas log fireplace includes a firebox which defines a combustion chamber, a gas burner located within the firebox, an artificial log set, a log support member positioned on the gas burner, a heat exchanger connected to an exhaust gas outlet of the firebox and a convection chamber which surrounds the firebox and the heat exchanger for heating of room air. The gas burner is fabricated of a refractory fiber material. A combustible gas and primary air are mixed in a Venturi inlet tube of the gas burner. Highly aerated gas flows through front ports and top ports in the gas burner. Secondary air is directed to the front ports and the top ports to obtain highly efficient combustion and high heat output. The artificial log set, the support member and the gas burner define a partially enclosed cavity which is maintained at a high temperature during operation by reradiation from the artificial logs, the support member and the gas burner.Type: GrantFiled: April 5, 1991Date of Patent: March 3, 1992Assignee: Vermont Castings, Inc.Inventors: Richard S. Blackburn, William A. Byrne, Stephen F. Richardson, Robert W. Ferguson

Patent number: 4024001Abstract: The invention provides a process for the continuous production of an elongate smoke filtering member comprising a heat-activatable bonding material and having air-permeable deformations at longitudinally displaced positions along its length, which comprises continuously advancing longitudinally a rod-like body of the material of the member, intermittently passing a hot fluid laterally into the advancing body to activate the bonding material substantially only at separate longitudinally displaced regions of the body, and deforming the outer surface of the advancing body at such regions where the bonding material is activated. Apparatus for performing the method comprises means for continuously longitudinally advancing the rod-like body, means for passing a hot fluid laterally into the body at regions longitudinally displaced along the body, and means for deforming the outer surface of the body at said regions.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 1975Date of Patent: May 17, 1977Assignee: American Filtrona CorporationInventors: Henry Lyon, Stanley William Byrne
