  • Publication number: 20190335544
Abstract: A system and method for providing warmth to a person, particularly a skier, in cold or inclement outdoor elements. Skiing is an outdoor winter sport where participants need to have proper clothing and equipment to stay warm in order to participate at optimal strength. Traveling on open-air lifts may cause skiers to become cold. The present disclosure provides a warming wrap that may be placed on a ski pole or other handheld device. A heating device integrated in the warming wrap transmits warmth through an outer layer whereas an insulating layer limits heat from escaping into the pole. The warming wrap contains a heating device that transmits heat from the heating layer to a person who touches the outer layer of the warming wrap. A grip layer alone or together with a fastener arrangement prevents the wrap from sliding down the pole. The preferred placement of the wrap on the pole rather than on a grip or in a glove or mitten provides the skier with better control and balance of the ski pole.

  • Patent number: 10217577
Abstract: Described herein are several examples of an apparatus that features receptacles configured to accept interchangeable buttons. Each of the interchangeable buttons has a receptacle interface on a first side, which allows them to electrically connect to and communicate with the aforementioned apparatus, and a unique user-perceivable label on a second side. Electronic elements embedded in each interchangeable button, or alternatively located on its first side, correspond to a unique user-perceivable label. Based on these electronic elements, the apparatus recognizes each button individually, and identifies their user-perceivable label. As a result, the interchangeable buttons may be re-positioned on the apparatus and maintain their intended functionality according to their user-perceivable label. In addition, new interchangeable buttons with different user-perceivable labels and new functionality, according to their labels, can be introduced to the apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20180282887
Abstract: An apparatus for separating a mixture of two liquids of different densities which liquids are substantially insoluble in one another includes a hollow permeable body having a recess for receiving a first fluid which can flow from the recess through the permeable body to an exterior of the permeable body. A housing surrounds and is spaced from the exterior of the permeable body. The housing has an inlet for a second fluid and an outlet for a mixture of the first and second fluid. A baffle or baffles are provided in the space between the exterior of the permeable body and the housing, and to define a mixing channel in space between the exterior of the permeable body and the housing so that the second fluid can enter the housing inlet and flow through the mixing channel to the outlet, while picking up fluid on the exterior of the permeable body.

The equipment can output status information corresponding to manufacturing operations for reception by an event device. The event device can maintain and update a state machine representation of the equipment based on the status information, determine an operational state of the equipment state machine representation, and generate an event message configured to identify the operational state of the equipment. The event device can receive an event subscription from a gateway device, and selectively transmit the event message towards the gateway device based on the event subscription. The event device can receive an equipment control signal from the gateway device, and prompt the equipment to perform an action in response to the equipment control signal.

  • Patent number: 9985787
Abstract: A mobile device implements a state machine with full authentication, continuous authentication, and invalidation states. To access the device, the full authentication state requires the user to confirm his or her identity using some robust authentication technique. Upon success, the state machine transitions to the continuous authentication state wherein data samples are captured as the user interacts with the device and compared with stored exemplary fingerprints. Preferably, the state machine enforces a negative identification technique to determine whether the individual currently interacting with the touchscreen is not the user from which the exemplary fingerprints were generated. Upon such negative authentication, the state machine transitions to the invalidation state. In this state, operations (e.g., screen lock) are performed to secure the device against an unauthenticated use.
