  • Publication number: 20080207932
Abstract: A process of producing kiwifruit seed oil involves first sterilizing the picked and selected ripe kiwifruit by flame, chlorine wash, or ozone impregnated water wash, followed by a fresh water rinse. The fruit is then cut using a water laser to minimize seed damage. Next the skin is separated from the fruit. Then the pulp is gently separated from the seed ensuring minimal seed coat damage. The resulting seed is cleaned whilst ensuring minimal seed coat damage. Then seed is then dried using cool temperature drying. The seed is stored at a cool temperature until it is needed for oil extraction. Crushing of the seed takes place immediately prior to the super critical extraction process. Super critical extraction using liquid carbon dioxide extracts the kiwifruit oil from the crushed seeds. The oil is the stabilized using a natural antioxidant such as rosemary oil.

  • Publication number: 20070189929
Abstract: A biological agent detector detects the presence of any biological agents, such as anthrax or other biological warfare agents, in a sample of air. The biological agent detector includes a bio-concentrator that concentrates an aerosol and a pyrolyzer portion including two detecting devices. One detecting device operates in a sample collection mode and collects a sample of air when the other detecting device operates in a sample analysis mode and analyzes a sample of air. • Patent number: 7233473
Abstract: A protection circuit and method are provided for a floating power transfer device having one or more switches for controlling charging of a reservoir capacitor across which a load is applied when in use. The protection circuit includes a control circuit, a fault detection circuit and a precharge driver circuit. The control circuit at least partially controls switching of the at least one switch, while the fault detection circuit detects when a fault in the floating power transfer device or the load occurs and sends a fault detect signal to the control circuit in response thereto. The precharge driver circuit, which is enabled by the control circuit responsive to receipt of the fault detect signal, attempts to precharge the reservoir capacitor to a voltage level sufficient for switching of the one or more switches to proceed without damaging the switches.

  • Publication number: 20060264829
Abstract: A disposable fluid container (20) comprises an integrated pump motive assembly (50) for pumping fluid from an interior of the container. In some example embodiments, the integrated pump motive assembly (50) is situated at least partially within the container housing, e.g., at least partially or even completely submerged inside a fluid reservoir (30) defined by the container housing (22). In other example embodiments, the pump motive assembly is outside the fluid reservoir (30), yet still integrally formed with the container. In yet other embodiments, the pump motive assembly is in a lid (194) of the container. As one aspect of this disposable pump-integrated container technology, the pump motive assembly comprises a displaceable electrodynamic actuator, such as (for example) piezoelectric diaphragm pump, taking any of various configurations.

  • Publication number: 20060255064
Abstract: Embodiments of fluid storage containers (312) comprise a displaceable electrodynamic valve (344) for selectively regulating release of fluid from the container. The fluid storage container has a port (342) and comprises means for defining a reservoir (330) for accommodating a pressurizing a fluid. A displaceable electrodynamic valve selectively opens and closes the port and thereby regulates release of the pressurized fluid from the container. In some implementations, the container has a lid (400) and the port is provided in the container lid. In other implementations, the container has a container body, and the port is provided in the container body. The displaceable electrodynamic valve (344) can take various configurations (e.g., flapper, solenoid) and various forms (e.g., piezoelectric valve) in differing example embodiments. In some embodiments a compressor (361) is provided for pressurizing the fluid, and can also take various forms.

  • Publication number: 20060006327
Abstract: A chemical biological detection system detects the presence of biological agents in the air. The system includes a pyrolyzer having an inlet through which air is drawn into the pyrolyzer and a pyrotube that collects a sample of particles extracted from the air. The pyrolyzer further includes an exhaust line that exhausts the air drawn into the pyrolyzer and a sample line that directs the gases eluted from the sample collected in the pyrotube to a mass spectrometer for sample identification. After the sample is collected in the pyrotube, the sample is analyzed. A small droplet of a methylating reagent is added to the sample. If the sample includes any biological agents, the methylating reagent derivatizes organic materials to make them more volatile. The sample is then pyrolyzed, and the eluted gas sample is drawn through the sample line and into the mass spectrometer for identification of any biological agents.
