  • Publication number: 20060182361
Abstract: In an image enhancement method, a regular enhancement function and an aggressiveness parameter are computed using characteristics of a digital image. A first, relatively slow enhancement algorithm is applied to the digital image using the regular enhancement function, when an aggressiveness parameter is in a predetermined high range. A second, relatively fast enhancement algorithm is applied to the digital image using the regular enhancement function, when an aggressiveness parameter is in a predetermined low range. A modified enhancement function is calculated using characteristics of the digital image and is used with a second, relatively fast enhancement algorithm, when the aggressiveness parameter is in a predetermined medium range.

  • Patent number: 5439623
Abstract: This invention relates to a method for controlling the introduction of additives, in the form of a plurality of strands, to a cutter. The strands are cut into pellets, and the pellets are fed to an extruder for making thermoplastic shaped articles. The feeding of the strands to the cutter and extruder involves feeding the strands through a metering device and calculating the feed rate, velocity, and delta position for each strand per feed interval in order to obtain the desired amount of additive in the resulting thermoplastic article.

  • Patent number: 4919872
Abstract: Continuous strands of color concentrate are metered into the feed zone of a screw-melter polymer extruder where they are cut into pellets by the shearing action of the flights of a rotating screw against the extruder housing. These pellets are mixed within the extruder with a thermoplastic polymer to be colored and this mixture is then melted and extruded into a useful article, for example, a fiber for textile or carpeting end-use.Additionally, color concentrates can be first formed into continuous strands and stored conveniently on a spool for subsequent metering into the polymer extruder.
