  • Publication number: 20160103920
Abstract: Data records are searched by use of a taxonomy comprising search terms having associated respective metadata wherein, for each search term, the associated metadata includes a measure of relatedness based on co-occurrences of search terms in at least one data record of a body of data records. A set of one or more search terms is selected and the taxonomy is referred to so as to extend the set of one or more selected search terms by including any different search terms having a significant measure of relatedness in relation to the one or more selected search terms.

  • Publication number: 20160103836
Abstract: A set of search results obtained by searching a body of data records is ranked, the set of search results identifying respective data records containing one or more search terms in a first category. At least one search term of a taxonomy is selected, the taxonomy including search terms having associated metadata which, for at least some search terms, identifies a second category and includes any positive measure of relatedness to at least one different search term in the second category, the measure of relatedness being based on co-occurrences of the search terms in individual ones of a plurality of data records. The search results are then ranked, at least partially, according to the measure of relatedness to the selected search term(s) of one or more search terms in the second category which are contained in the respective data records of the search results.

  • Publication number: 20160103837
Abstract: A weighting processor and a method for ranking search results obtained by searching a body of data records. The ranking is carried out in relation to at least one selected search term contained in a taxonomy in which search terms have associated metadata which, for each search term, identifies a category and includes any measure of relatedness to at least one different search term in the same category, the measure being based on co-occurrences of the search terms in individual ones of a plurality of data records. The search results identify data records containing one or more search terms from the taxonomy and the results are ranked by summing, for each data record of the results, the measures of relatedness of search terms present in the data record to the selected search term(s).

  • Publication number: 20160103885
Abstract: A taxonomy is built by associating metadata with search terms. A body of data records is analyzed to identify pairs of search terms co-occurring in individual data records and to obtain an observed measure of the frequency of such co-occurrences between identified pairs. A taxonomy is then built by constructing metadata and associating the search terms with respective metadata, the metadata for each co-occurring search term identifying at least one other search term with which it co-occurs, together with a measure of relatedness based on the observed co-occurrence frequency measure between the co-occurring pair.

  • Publication number: 20100090936
Abstract: Devices, systems, mediums, and methods for providing a layered color display are disclosed. One method of displaying images includes configuring a reflective color display in a layered manner to display a first portion of an image in a lower layer and to display a second portion of an image in a number of upper layers by decoupling imaging functions of a number of upper layers of a reflective color display device from imaging functions of a lower layer of a reflective color device, driving the lower layer with an active matrix back plane thin film transistor (TFT), and addressing the number of upper layers passively.

  • Publication number: 20030079002
Abstract: A method of configuring a user interface of computer-assisted equipment according to a service program is disclosed. The method includes the computer-assisted equipment transmitting a message to the remote computer. The remote computer determines that a service program available on said remote computer is suitable for use with the computer-assisted equipment, wherein the determination is based on the message. The method continues with the remote computer influencing operation of the user interface of the computer-assisted equipment in accordance with the service program.

  • Publication number: 20030074590
Abstract: A method, logic and computer system for managing electrical power consumed by a computer system and controlling access to functionality the computer system. A powersave mode is started after a first predetermined activity timeout duration has elapsed during which no user activity is detected, the powersave mode reducing an amount of electrical power consumed by a component of the computer system. A lock mode is started after a second predetermined activity timeout duration has elapsed during which no user activity is detected, following entry into the lock mode, the lock mode restricting use of the computer system until a specified security input is input into the computer system. Before the second predetermined activity timeout duration has elapsed, a user action other than the specified security input reactivates the computer system for use from the powersave mode.

  • Patent number: 4153435
Abstract: An apparatus and method for scrubbing or removing ammonia fumes by passing the ammonia vapor through a shower of ammonia-absorbent liquid such as water in a chamber are disclosed in this invention. The ammonia vapors are absorbed by and enter into solution with the liquid, the clean air is discharged into the atmosphere, and the solution of ammonia and liquid is disposed of in an appropriate manner. Preferably, a portion of the solution is recirculated to absorb additional ammonia in the chamber while the balance is discharged; and fresh make-up liquid is added to prevent the solution from becoming fully saturated with ammonia or from losing its effectiveness in the scrubbing process. The apparatus includes a cabinet, air transfer means, a shower chamber and means for producing a dense shower of liquid droplets, liquid circulator and discharge means and control mechanism to maintain absorbent liquid within the system.

  • Patent number: 4031450
Abstract: Electronic circuitry for charging batteries is designed to charge the cells at a relatively high charging rate through a charging path which includes a semiconductor switching means, e.g. a transistor. Control circuitry is provided including a shunting controlled rectifier which is triggered into conduction when the battery has reached its nearly fully charged condition, thus shunting current away from the battery and preferably latching the transistor into non-conduction. A lower rate, trickle maintenance charge is provided by way of a resistor shunt across the switching means. The effect of temperature on the shunt controlled rectifier gating requirements is used in a positive manner to automatically latch the transistor into non-conduction as the cell approaches its fully charged condition while simultaneously preventing overcharging by tapering the battery voltage to a suitable level.
