  • Patent number: 6422413
Abstract: A liquid container for the above-ground storage of flammable fuels is shown having an inner tank with a bottom surface, side surfaces, and a top surface placed within an outer shell having a bottom surface, side surfaces, and an open top. The bottom surfaces of the inner tank and outer shell are spaced apart from each other by first bottom spacers which connect the two bottom surfaces. The side walls of the inner tank and outer shell are also spaced apart from each other by second side spacers which connect the tank and shell. The side spacers for connecting the tank and shell prevent the inner tank from floating within the outer shell when an insulating material, such as concrete, is added therebetween.

  • Patent number: 6286707
Abstract: A container for the above-ground storage of flammable fuels has an inner tank which may be rectangular, with a bottom surface, side surfaces, and a top surface, or which may be some other shape, such as cylindrical, placed within an outer shell having a similar shape. In the case of a rectangular inner tank and a rectangular outer shell, the bottom surfaces of the inner tank and outer shell are spaced apart from each other by first bottom spacers which connect the two bottom surfaces. The side walls of the inner tank and outer shell are also spaced apart from each other by second side spacers which connect the tank and shell. The side spacers for connecting the tank and shell prevent the inner tank from floating within the outer shell when an insulating material, such as concrete, is added therebetween. The inner tank may be constructed of metal, fiberglass, fiberglass-coated metal, polyethylene, or other like materials, while the outer shell is steel.

  • Patent number: 6247195
Abstract: A head structure is disclosed which includes a novel deck, bulkhead and overhead coating which prevents moisture, especially corrosive sea water, or salt atmosphere from reaching the underlying deck, bulkhead or overhead even if the surface of the coating is damaged or penetrated. The coating provides an attractive and highly durable surface which is easily cleaned and resists staining or discoloring. The novel coating in connection with the unique head design allows a head to be easily and rapidly cleaned and maintained a daily basis by simple wash-and wipe techniques requiring minimal crew involvement time. This permits crew members to be able to devote more of their time to education and productive endeavors rather than to maintenance. The head has a deck, bulkhead and an overhead, most or all of which are susceptible to corrosion in the salt water environment.

  • Patent number: 6009925
Abstract: An improved apparatus and method for joining two or more thin sheets of thermoplastic materials along a welded seam includes a welding assembly and a means for feeding the thermoplastic sheets to the working area of the welding assembly. The welding assembly includes a heated platen welding press coupled with a welding tool, an energy generator electrically connected to the welding tool and control means electrically connected to the welding press, the welding tool and the energy generator. The welding press includes a pair of opposed platens, means for heating each of the platens and pressing means for displacing at least one of the opposed platens in the thickness direction of the thermoplastic sheets. Pressure is applied to the thermoplastic sheets by using the pressing means to displace at least one of the heated platens in the thickness direction of the thermoplastic sheets.

  • Patent number: 5660751
Abstract: An apparatus to extract liquid absorbed in a bowling ball having a surface. The apparatus includes a closed chamber to receive the bowling ball therein. A heating element in the chamber increases the temperature of the ball in order to draw the liquid to the surface of the bowling ball. Liquid on the surface of the bowling ball may thereafter be removed.

  • Patent number: 5187794
Abstract: A bus programmable slave module card 30 for use in a computer control system which comprises a master computer and one or more slave computer modules interfacing therewith by means of a bus and wherein each slave module includes its own microprocessor memory, and control program for acting as a single loop controller. The slave card includes a plurality of memory means corresponding to a like plurality of memory devices in the master computer, for each slave memory means its own communication lines connectable through the bus with memory communication lines of an associated memory device in the master computer, and a one-way electronic door which is switchable to either a closed condition or a one-way open condition. With the door closed, communication lines between master computer memory and slave memory are blocked.

  • Patent number: 4922125
Abstract: A data processing system is shown packaged in an enclosure wherein the system frame or chassis and a cable carrier are separately fabricated and thereafter merged to provide an enclosure with open ends and a central cable carrier that mounts connections for the system components. The system components are slideably received by the enclosure and are self docking as the electrical connections with the system power and signal lines are completed as the components arrive at the fully inserted, latched position. Keying means are also provided to require the user to install the components at both the correct location and with the correct orientation.

  • Patent number: 4002079
Abstract: An elastomeric protector boot for covering the lower housing of a hydraulically operated impactor tool characterized by air vents which are adapted to allow free air communication between the interior of the boot while preventing debris from entering the lower housing of the impactor. The protector boot further includes an internal foam rubber filter member for ensuring that foreign particles do not enter the annular space between the bit and the housing. The air vents are further protected from being snagged or torn through the provision of protection lobes which allow air communication between the air vent while preventing ingress of debris generated by operation of an impactor.
