  • Patent number: 7397373
Abstract: A security system and method of providing security in a retail environment or the like, comprising shopping trolleys associated with the retail enviroment fitted with security devices having a receive-only wireless receiver and a processor. The receiver receiving wireless signals transmitted from one or more transmitters located at various locations around the retail enviroment. By analyzing the wireless signals as it passes thereby, the processor of the security device may determine a location and/or a direction of travel of a shopping trolley to which it is fitted. In addition, an alarm signal may be raised if a predetermined signal or sequence of signals is detected.

  • Patent number: 7316672
Abstract: A portable wound treatment apparatus, for stimulating the healing of superficial wounds, comprises a housing containing a suction pump and a canister for containing fluids drawn from the wound. The housing is supported on a harness or belt worn by the patient. The canister is connected to a porous wound dressing at the wound site via a plurality of tubes, a multi-lumen tube or a combination thereof. A rechargeable battery pack may be incorporated within the housing or externally thereto. The external battery pack may be shaped to balance the housing on the harness or belt. Pressure transducers are provided to monitor and report pressures at the wound site or internal to the canister. Monitored pressures may also be utilized to determine the filled state of the canister and, thereafter, either report this state to the operator or automatically discontinue suction from the wound, or both.

  • Publication number: 20070247839
Abstract: A flashlight having a lamp, a power storage element, a switch, and an electronic controller. The controller has a switch input connected to the switch and operates in response to the input to deliver power from the power storage element to the lamp. The controller may be directly connected to each of the lamp, source, and switch. The switch may include several separate contact elements operating sequentially in response to movement of a switch actuator. The controller may provide different illumination levels and functions in response to different pressures and durations of actuation. The flashlight may include a dimmer level control to establish an intermediate “dimmed” output level, and operate to provide the selected dimmed output when the switch is depressed by an intermediate amount, and to provide a greater maximum output level in response to full actuation of the switch.

  • Publication number: 20070088765
Abstract: The invention is a system that reviews, approves, and implements updates to a primary database that houses a business's chargeable items. A duplicate database has a duplicate of each data entry in the primary database. Prior to implementation, the update is reviewed for compliance with regulatory and local standards and preapproved updates by using the duplicate database as a point of reference. The management service may revise the update before implementing the update into the primary database. Preferably any update that is implemented into the primary database is validated to confirm that the implemented update matches the approved update.
